NOW broadband new contract

Options
We signed up on July 21st with NOW. The date for installation was going to be Wednesday 14th August. (Our virgin broadband ends on 17th). My husband has booked time off work.

We have just had a text that they will not update us until 19th.

Very bad service, do we have any rights to cancel??

    don't know?

    But

    1) Who will you goto that is better?
    2) Who will you goto that will get it installed quicker at this late stage.

I'd put a complaint in. May speed things up or get a credit

Until they give us a confirmed date, (apparently all other dates have been provisional!!) we cannot get the compensation

We have been told by NOW that we can cancel if we want.

Its hardly worth the bother for small amount of compo .

Cancel and wait even longer . None of these OpenReach visits are set in stone .

Decided to just wait, I just wish they had made it clear that our preferred date was not a confirmed date, just provisional as hubby taken time off work

It looks like I'm following in your footsteps! Like you, I did not receive any disconnection email from Virgin and am also going to Now Broadband. My installation date is the 19th and hope they don't do this trick to me! I also have a couple of days overlapping with Virgin but wouldn't like to be in your position without a confirmed date.
I'll keep an eye on this post for any updates you might have and will add my experience if they do change my installation date.

Is yours just a provisional date?

I am not sure to be honest. Just after signing up I got an email with the provisional date 19/08/2019 (the one I selected) but the following day I received another email saying that they were really sorry but they had to make a change to my order, only to say that my broadband would go live on 19/08/2019 (the same date) and also confirming my new phone number. I assumed this would be my confirmed date but I don't know. Did you receive any other email after signing up? My account also shows that my engineer appointment is booked for the date and time I selected.

Just checked and on the order page it still says that we have an engineer booked for tomorrow. Along with .....
It's too late to change your engineer visit now. Just make sure someone over 18 is home and we're good to go.
We got the text yesterday confirming a delay
