Query on credit file - Help

Hi,
I am in dispute with someone about a single late payment. I have been in dispute for the last two weeks and they will not budge. Ive been back and forth and i am adamant the marker was placed incorrectly.
However the final response letter states they wont change it but they said ' i have requested the team to place a query on your file, although this does not remove the late marker;
Can anyone explain what that is? I have searched online and cant find an answer. IT seems this is something that is not that common

If you are not satisfied with the final response regarding what data is recorded on your credit file, then you should escalate to the ICO.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Yes i will may do that but its a long drawn out process of 8 weeks which i dont have the time and energy. Plus its a 1 month late payment a over a year ago so im not sure how much damage that will do. To this date every payment on that account (over 3 years is on time apart from that single late payment)
It maybe not worth the hassle arguing it.
But i am just intrested in what they meant by putting a query on my file. What does that mean? They said it wont remove the late marker but they will put a query on it
Never heard of this0 -
Is this your Natwest account you already have a post about!
Putting a query means they will put a note on the account to say it’s in dispute.
It’s a hinderance and probably doing more harm than the single late payment marker.0 -
no - mobile provider
Why would it be a hindrance? The account itself is fine but there is one late payment in 4 years.0 -
Its not in dispute. They have refused to remove the late marker. They said the best they will do it put it a query on the file.
So not sure what that means0 -
It is in dispute. You don't agree with the marker. You are clearly disputing it!
Like I said, you should escalate your disputed late payment marker with the ICO, as that is the only way forward.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Ok so why is the marker incorrect?
Is it marked as late across all 3 of your credit files?0 -
Ok - Let me explain so there is no misunderstanding.
I have a late marker last year from a mobile company provider. I have spent two weeks disputing this because i believe i paid on time before the cut off point. The looked at their notes and said i was given the wrong information about the cut off time and it was marked as late and it wont be changed. Etc ETC. So they will not change the late payment as their final response!
I have accepted this decision and am not contesting it further due to the time and energy needed for the FOS or ICO over one late payment on a flawless record for that provider.
But they said we will not remove the marker but i have requested the team to place a query on your file, although this does not remove the late marker;
File closed, end of complaint
So my question is - What does this mean? I dont understand it or this query. There is no query the matter is closed. They know that and i no it.0 -
They are putting a note on the account to say you dispute that the payment was late despite them marking it correctly.
So now when you apply for credit lenders will a. see the late marker/s and b. see the note saying you’re disputing the marker.
Thusly potentially adding a step of manual intervention and delay to any credit products you apply for because of this note.
However if on paper (bank statements) and the date on their system stating the payment was late, then it’s late.
A direct debit would have prevented all of this.0 -
Yes i no this and ile accept its my fault. Im not gonna dispute that any further
So u think its a bad idea having this query on my file0
