The same way anybody does. Apply. Apply. and apply some more. Never stop applying. Persistence is the key. Write good cover letters, write good "information to support your application" spiels, go to the interviews. Be prepared though to start Uni without a job but if you can start shortly afterwards then that's better than nothing.
You're not going to get anything by complaining on a web forum.0 -

You do as advised, you get yourself around all the bars, restaurants and cafes and walk in and ask if there is anything at all going, no matter how menial you think it is0 -
How on earth can you blame your grandfather having a stroke for you wasting your life?
Most people are bullied, most people lose a grandparent in their twenties,
Your life experiences are typical, and even in combination should not have caused any harm.
We diverged because only one of us is an unpleasant layabout who sneers at everyone that they come across.
I’m out, even if I thought that I could help I wouldn’t. I’ll report you for circumventing your well-deserves ban, and leave it at that.0 -

Sam, why do you think no one is taking you on?
Serious question
Oh and btw, its noting to do with being fat and spotty0 -

Hair splitting. You obviously don't want to work because you keep putting barriers, excuses and heaven only knows what in the way. You want Sooty to come along, wave his magic wand and land you in a £26k job with none of the effort to get there. If I was a JSA advisor I honestly think I would have sanctioned you long before this point.
So on that basis... I'm out, but I look forward to the thread in four months time that reads, "I quit/got kicked out of Uni, I need a job, what do I do?" or similar.0 -

I have said i wouldn't mind supermarket jobs because all you have to do is stack shelves and go BEEP BEEP BEEP on the till
Sam! Don't have a pop at me haha, I've just stuck up for you!
I agree with you in one respect. HOWEVER, I'll also say that I've worked in McDonalds for about 3 years in the past. I *get* what you are saying (though I wasn't a cleaner; I was on the grill as were most young males). I was ALWAYS much better than McDonalds but the reality was that I didn't have credentials to back me up. So I *had* to do it like! And I had the 18 year old pipsqueak managers telling ME what to do like I'm some idiot. I've been there and done it! I get it mate.
But, for me, I got a lot from the people I worked with (non managers; they are nice people) and it was actually a bit of a laugh at times! And between you and me (and the forum), some girls were absolutely up for dating and all that as long as you were just nice to them (even if you moaned about how bad the place was like).
I do think it is pretty bad what you've told us about your life, and any nice person would be offering you sympathy instead of running you through the mill. That being said, they are sort of right in one respect in that you need to try and move forward in your life! You need to try and better yourself! We all do things at a different pace (Kentish Dave's post is an example of someone who was fast-tracked to success but many mortals don't experience such an easy journey) but it is about figuring out what that pace is like! What is your pace?0 -
Hi Sam. Quick question. What have you been volunteering at? I ask because people who volunteer in organisations are more likely to get paid jobs when they come up. Is the voluntary work you do the sort that had vacancies occasionally? Do you enjoy the work at all?Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Because you are very easily thought to be a troll?samtheman2939 wrote: »Why do i keep getting banned on this site.
You might be a mixed-up young person who's had some rotten experiences which make you frustrated to the point of bitterness but it's spilling over into your attitude and that may well be putting people off you (when you do turn up to interviews).
Have you tried to find out if your university has a scheme where students can sometimes get bits of part-time work - either within the university or local businesses? (When I was a university administrator it was called JobShop). That might be a a couple of hours clerical work in a uni dept; a bit of guiding visitors about or ushering/stewarding at a function. It might also be cleaning in residences or helping out with groundswork.
The catch is - you probably will have to compete; you won't have much space to pick and choose the nice jobs and you will have to be reliable. The upside is - if a job comes in it gets tweeted or texted to a list of people and you can quickly think - am I free then, can I do it? and it should be very local.I need to think of something new here...0 -
These posts are starting to get concerning (well moreso), calling people dogs etc.0

All i want is a job, to be successful and not have my stepsister and stepbrother better then me. Why are they so lucky, why do they get to have jobs/part time jobs, be able to get married, go abroad with their partners and drive at night.
I mean im sitting in my bed and i don't know what to do anymore i really don't
You keep getting banned for the same reason you always do.
Go get some help with your mental health. No-one is going to hire you with your current attitude.
That is it. Go get mental health help, today.0
