Do this first as a landowner/retail outlet cancellation is always best.

Yes, but if you read my post above you will see that I hadn't seen that post at the time.

    Hence my latest question.

    So I emailed Mr Hurley.
    Good afternoon.

I am contacting you on behalf of a friend in regard to an invoice, disguised as a parking fine, that they have received from the contractors that operate the car park in your store in Boscombe, Bournemouth, Dorset. (See attached)

    Parking Eye Ref: ######/######
    Date and Time: ##/##/#### ##:##-##:##
    Vehicle Registration: #### ###

I am contacting you, as I did your customer service team yesterday, on their behalf as they are not a native English speaker.

The reason for this follow up is because neithwer of us are fully satisfied with the response that I received from your customer service agent.

My friend is a long time customer, and the proprietor of a local eatery, choosing to use your store as one way to fulfill the needs of their business.

As such they do not understand why such an officious demand has arrived to them. They were legitimately using the car park associated with your store for the sole purpose of shopping at your store. A copy of their purchase receipt is also attached. (*##### ###/###/###/### ##:##)

Due to my work I was unable to visit the store in person to make her complaint known to the store manager. The only phone number I could find was an 0845 number that charges 7 pence per minute on top of any network access charges - I will not use these numbers.

I eventually found a freephone number, which as it turned out was to your central customer services. They said they could transfer me to the store, but would not do so until I explained why I wished to speak with the manager.

On explaining that it was a "Parking Matter" I was instantly told that the gentleman I was talking to could deal with that, and after a quick consultation he also agreed that he could deal with me on my friends behalf.

I give the Parking Eye reference number, date and times of the alleged "infringement", vehicle registration number, and the receipt reference. Upon completion of noting these details I was simply told that the "appeal" had been started, and to IGNORE any reminders, but that we would also NOT be informed if the appeal was succesful.

Well, I'm sorry, but this is an inadequate response.

Firstly, there should be no need to "appeal", as nothing has been done wrong. Your customer service representitive should be instructing Parking Eye to cancel the charge immediately.

To also be told to ignore further reminders, but also that there would be no further correspondance if succesful, is woefully lacking in due dilligance. My friend is afraid that the case will not be overturned and that the vultures that operate your car parks will then try andf take them to court.

As I have said above, my friend is a long time customer. Thay are fully aware of the time limits and systems in place. They did not overstay, and they are certain that they correctly registered their vehicle in store. However, mistakes do happen. But if we attempted to charge everyone £70 every time they made a typing error there would be uproar.

I hereby request, on behalf of the Miss Agostina Gomes (the registered keeper of the vehicle and recipient of this spurious claim) that you instruct Parking Eye to cancel this charge with immediate effect.

If my friend feels they can no longer safely shop at your store without risk of unfair penalties, they will take their business elsewhere.

I halve already contacted my local MP on this matter, especially inregard to the new Parking (Code of Practice) Act 2019, that was enacted earlier this year.

If we do not receive a satisfactory and timely response, we will look at what other options are open to us.

    Yours sincerely,

    ## # ####

    For ,and on behalf of,

    #### # ##### (registered keeper)

I got the copy/paste response, but it IS CANCELLED!
    Dear ## #### and #### #####

I am writing regarding your correspondence addressed to our CEO, Giles Hurley, who has reviewed your email and asked me to respond on his behalf.

Thank you for contacting us regarding the parking charge notice that you received.

On the basis of the information provided, I am happy to contact ParkingEye and get this charge cancelled.

As you are now aware, ParkingEye manages this car park using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras that monitor cars entering and leaving the car park. This system is in place to ensure free parking for our customers.

This store also operates a terminal in store (usually located on the packing benches), requiring customers to enter their vehicle registration.

I hope that this satisfactorily resolves this matter for you. We value your custom and hope that you will continue to shop with us.

    Yours sincerely

  • Glad to hear.

Whilst ALDI generally help their genuine customers others are not.

Everyone must be aware that when parking on private land you are swimming with sharks.
