I found out last month that I have on a mortgage dated 2004 only because I had a sports injury and couldn’t move for a week so decided to send numerous enquiries in to every single bank I had been associated to.
It's not a very compelling argument to state you didn't know you had PPI on a mortgage, as it's clearly detailed on the mortgage paperwork you signed your agreement to and should have been paid as a separate monthly direct debit coming out of your bank account each month. If you didn't know you had it, it simply means you never read what you signed and didn't check your bank statements.

MPPI is also the least upheld when it is complained about and is still retailed today.

So what exactly did you complain about?

The whole PPI thing has been going on for years.
The original proposed deadline was delayed and extended to August 2019.
Yet so many are only just getting around to it . .

The trouble is though that so many of these quick buck companies jumped all over it, it made the whole thing seem like a scam so people avoided it. I mean come on, how often have you looked further into adverts or claims of "you can get free money, just sign up with us and send us your bank details"

And then when you add on the perception of complexity, perpetuated by these companies, and people not having details or documents from 10 years ago. And people are rightly not going to bother.

The ONLY reason I started enquiring was that a friend of mine told me about the new policy that some have of fill in 1 enquiry form and if there's PPI they'll auto complain, and he's a pretty basic guy so I figured if he managed it then it can't be that difficult
