This is incorrect unfortunately (but was correct until very recently).
Letting agents used to only have access to publically available information, however, there are some (as mentioned above) who through the services of TransUnion or others now have access to a tenant's FULL credit file, which will include details of all bank and credit accounts, defaults, late payments etc, as well as CCJs, bankrupties which are available publically.
Letalliance offer exactly this service, since June this year.
I would post a link, but am too new a member. You can see in the referencing section on their website.
No that is incorrect.0 -
Thank you. Yes I did worry a little. Yes, I have just looked at my stat credit report from transunion, and it's alot more detailed (eeek) I've not made any late payments! I went over my credit card limit once 2 years ago, but that is completely explainable if they ask.
Also, that open banking sounds a bit scary after researching it? I've not long opened a new bank account, I did this so that I paid off my overdraft on my previous account and Halifax gave me £150 (didn't realise this would be a negative on my file) thought being over draft free would be a bonus!0 -
In the unlikely event that the LA/LL that you go with uses LetAlliance (there must be at least a handful of these type of firms) , the OpenBanking is only an opt-in, not compulsory. So again, not something to worry too much about.Emilyoflanye92 wrote: »

The flat we are hoping to apply for, the agents reference and check tenants using homelet?0

They appear to have a 3 different levels of tenant reference checks, looks fairly similar to the ones talked about in the previous few postsEmilyoflanye92 wrote: »The flat we are hoping to apply for, the agents reference and check tenants using homelet?0

They actually have a help section where they talk about bad credit history not always meaning automatic decline, just to be upfront and honest.
This has put me at ease quite a bit. Feeling a bit more positive about it now and hoping I can enjoy my big, exciting move.0 -
Happy to hear that you’re feeling more positive! Good luck with the move0
