Letter to their CEO??? LOL! The CEO’s assistant will have a good chuckle when reading that email, and then it’ll be promptly archived.
Just wait on the phone, last time I called I was on hold for about 7 mins, not exactly long.
Yes , you could have waited 7 mins for them to just give you the wrong advice on how to fix the problem .
ie. use another browser, clear cookies/caches, delete browsing history , etc etc .
It is 'Trusteer Rapport' extension that is causing the problem . I was told by HSBC to always have 'Trusteer Rapport' enabled to protect me from accessing bogus bank sites . Unsure whether HSBC hold the customers liable if they 'DON'T' use it and get their accounts hacked.
I've disabled it and now I can access my online account on Google Chrome . All this wasted time trying to download other browsers etc . HSBC customer services and IT folk need to sort themselves out.0 -

As to why you keep thinking that your own problems affect everyone, rather than being down to you, I think that requires a chat with a medical professional, not a whine on here.
Do you have problem reading? It is Trusteer Rapport that is the problem . The extension that HSBC and other banks strongly advise us to use.
Here is what is says on HSBC Banking website:
Enjoy extra peace of mind with free anti-virus and IBM Trusteer Rapport security software.
IBM Trusteer
We strongly recommend that you install IBM Trusteer Rapport security software.
IBM Trusteer Rapport adds valuable security when you log on to HSBC Personal Internet Banking. It checks that you are using the real HSBC website and not a fake. It locks down the link between you and the bank so that fraudsters can't listen in. Finally, it blocks all known viruses that target online banking.
IBM Trusteer Rapport doesn't replace your Personal Internet Banking security details or other protection such as anti-virus software. It works with them to add extra security. It only takes a few minutes to install the software and there is no need to restart your computer.
For more information about how IBM Trusteer Rapport works, for technical support and system requirements, visit IBM TrusteerIBM Trusteer This link will open in a new window.
So don't they actually do any 'User Acceptance Testing' when a new release or patch happens? Don't the banking IT professionals, IBM and the browser companies actually get their heads together and check for any impact on the end user?
Obviously not!!!
And I don't need advice from you about whining, especially from banker luvvy duddies who can't accept any criticism from a business that used to be respected but are now viewed as being on the 'other side of the law'.0 -
Well, your email has clearly worked as HSBC have sacked Mr Flint and replace him with a new CEO0

Hong Kong (CNN Business) 5 August 2019
HSBC chief John Flint is stepping down after receiving two stinging emails from MSE user Humbug, less than two years on the job.
The bank said in a statement that Flint was found weeping uncontrollably at his desk, with his tears smudging the two emails his PA had printed out for him after breakfast. Flint was overheard saying "I can't go on after seeing these emails", then resigned by mutual agreement with the board, adding that change is needed to meet "the increasingly complex and challenging emails" HSBC faces.
The London-based bank said it is considering internal and external candidates to replace Flint. Bookies have MSE user Humbug as the overwhelming favourite. The HSBC share price collapsed at the news and the 233,000 HSBC employees are fearful for their jobs as Humbug is said to do a clearout: "I'd rather do everything myself than trust any one of these monkeys. Those emails are a disgrace and must be stopped at all costs".
Industry analysts are watching the developing situation with trepedation. Donald Trump tweeted: Humburg is great, very great. I am a big fan of Hamburg. I eat mine with extra sauce and ketchup.0 -

That was good - until it got to the Trump jibe.
Then you lost me.0 -
This is what happens when there is any criticism of the banking industry. It's like a pathetic 'love-fest' get together of banking trolls going on the defensive . I'm not surprised at their reaction considering how the public view their profession (and that won't change until a government with some guts make massive changes and reduce their power).
This particular you-tube video explains it all about the banking industry.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZeTpctaqnU
Strange that even the MPs (mainly Peter Lilley) used the words 'fraud', 'counterfeit' .
"Even the most respected bankers would do things that would land anyone else in jail"
"creates money out of thin air"
"banking is fraud"
"Spivs and crooks to have a field day"
"maximisation of their own interest and not the national interest"
"virtual monopoly -97% on domestic credit creation"
"Banks have too much power and have greatly abused it"
"System is broken"0 -
"News Now" reports that HSBC CEO Flint has personally taken charge of a preventable IT problem that affected thousands of their customers . Apparently their contracted IT developer had decided to ignore all UAT (user acceptance testing) for new partnered software releases because they thought 'it was irrelevant'.
Mr Flint would like to thank MSE Humbug for contacting him about this huge issue which mean't customer services were stretched to the limit while also giving customers wrong instructions about fixing their online banking issues.
Mr Flint appreciates that MSE banking trolls were trying to 'save his bacon' and protect the banking industry in general but understands this is a futile attempt.
He says he has seen that Humbug video posted on MSE forum and painfully agrees with every word said. With a 'heavy heart' he apologies to all those people who lost their savings and livelihoods. But he then goes on to say "C'est La Vie" , "Tomorrow is just another day".0 -
Here is an update from the HSBC CEO office . Lets hope all the banker luvvy duddies eat humble pie.
Plus they have thanked me and given me £150 compensation (which to their credit , I thought was a fantastic response). But remember I informed them how to fix the fault and have probably saved them many thousands of pounds in compensation and 'lost' customers. Plus assisted them in giving end customers the correct advice to fix the problem. Further , I have saved their customer services helpdesk from having to answer 100's if not 1000's of calls. The banking trolls on here should be 'licking my boots'.
Our Tech Support have confirmed that other customers have also told us about this problem and from our testing, the issue is definitely because of the recent update to Chrome.
Here is the solution: please go to the Chrome settings (3 lines) > More Tools > Extensions > Locate the Rapport extension and turn the toggle off. You will then be able to log on with no issues.
I referred back to the team to advise them that you'd disabled Trusteer Rapport and were concerned that you were no longer protected. They have replied to confirm that turning off the toggle will only disable the extension and will not affect the functionality of the Rapport software itself.
They've assured me that these instructions will ensure you’re still protected. You would have to go in to the main Rapport software and manually turn it off for you not to be protected. If this is what you've done, please ensure you only turn the toggle off.
The problem has been fed in to IBM Rapport, who own Trusteer. IBM are looking into this and have asked for customers to feed this into them directly, to aid them in resolving this issue faster.
This is how to do this when you’re a Windows User:
To send us a Problem Report:
1. Open Rapport's Console (Start > Programs > Trusteer Endpoint Protection > Trusteer Endpoint Protection Console)
2. Under Help and Support, click Report a Problem
3. Fill in your email address and case ID (******) and click Submit

Update from Humbug
I'm writing to you because I've been passed some further information today relating to your complaint that I closed on 9 August 2019 about Trusteer Rapport and Google Chrome.
After further liaison with IBM Rapport about this problem, the resolution I was initially provided with has now changed. I've had to re-open and close your complaint again today due to this.
The resolution now is to log into Online Banking using a different Browser, with the Rapport toggle turned back on.
I'm really sorry about this and I know it's not ideal that this has changed, especially when you told me you’d had problems using a different Browser before.
Here's a list of the other Browsers that are supported by our website that you can use Rapport with, that aren’t currently affected by this problem.
