Google Chrome is working for me. With or without adblocker.
OP has form for experiencing a highly localised banking issue and mistakenly believing that they've stumbled on a major corporate problem affecting all customers....

Success! Internet Explorer 11 works but Google Chrome doesn't anymore .
Your Google Chrome doesn't work with HSBC. Mine does. That means it's not an HSBC problem. Seems you need to have a look at your extensions / settings / plugins.

Why didn't HSBC advise their customers about this potential problem? Why wait for people to contact them via phone/online chat , etc?
Because there is nothing to advise. HSBC is working in Vanilla Chrome.

NB. What did the HSBC CEO say when you updated him on your findings?

But its been working okay for years with no problems, even with extensions like Adblock. I'm using Google Chrome and there has never been a problem before.

Try uninstalling Chrome and installing again.
  • The OP seems to combine a chronic inability to use technology and a tendency to conspiracy thinking.

OP, give your frequent struggles, have you thought of signing up for some adult education on the subject?

And before you ask, yes, I’m a banker.

I prefer the mobile apps for HSBC and FD; all it needs is a thumb print and I'm in with no further bother. :)
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.

For your information, I found out what the problem was myself.

It has nothing to do with what HSBC Customer services are advocating to fix the problem (ie. use another browser, clear the cookies/caches, delete browsing history 'All Time').

This is how you fix the problem:

Go into Google Chrome 'More Tools' / 'Extensions' , then just disable 'Trusteer Rapport' . Then try logging into your HSBC online banking website.

    Problem fixed!!!!

Therefore I have sent an email to the CEO Mr Flint and emailed the support helpdesks advising them of the 'Real ' problem. Something that HSBC IT folk can't seem to figure out for themselves.

And exactly who was it that advised us to use Trusteer Rapport for 'extra security'? Yes the banking industry.

Just shows how incompetent and rubbish the banking industry has become when they can't even figure out a simple issue as an 'Extension' causing the problem.

Yes , its the Trusteer Rapport that is the problem. The extension that HSBC have advised all their customers to use as an extra security layer.

I've informed the CEO to advise all their overseas helpdesks because they are giving customers incomplete instructions on the possible cause of online access issues using Google Chrome.

Funny that the root cause of the issue is HSBC's recommendation to use 'Trusteer Rapport' as an extra 'security layer' . I suspect the people who have not experienced these issues do not have 'Trusteer Rapport' extension on their Google Chrome browser.

The fact that I have wasted hours speaking to Customer Service helpdesks who are providing me with incorrect advice just proves how incompetent and disjointed the banking IT developers have become. With all the wasted millions that banks pay for 'cheapskate' IT development at the expense of proper UAT makes it plain for all to see (except for the banker luvvies on here).

Its Trusteer Rapport that is causing the problem. Enable it on Google Chrome and then see if you can access your HSBC personal banking account.

When it’s you who keeps having the problems it’s not the bank that’s in the wrong, it’s you.

As to why you keep thinking that your own problems affect everyone, rather than being down to you, I think that requires a chat with a medical professional, not a whine on here.
