Depends what you call trade war.
Trump will still be a 'Tariffs Man' for political reasons - because its a stealth tax.
Even more stealthy than VAT because it doesn't show separately on the price of goods. He can claim China is paying it.

The American consumer will find out who's paying it when they are buying electronics !!! Christmas time.

Most economists/ analysts would agree the president's "trade war" is disproportionate. Most would not admit out loud that it is more about slowing down/preventing China's growth. No doubt the president himself has profited from his own comments over the past 2 years of volatility, ensuring buy/sell orders are timed appropriately.

I reckon he's got people in the background working for him buying and selling as he knows a tweet can move a market.

To someone without one, a job is a job. Goes without saying that manufacturing is increasingly automated. Robotics is levelling the playing field.

Apple could simply cut their bloated gross profit margin.

Not bad if you’re after a new iGadget. Not great for investors though.

In any case, it’s quite unlikely.

Would be great to see Apple move more production to the U.S.

For the past decade buying the supply chain appears to be the way of protecting margins.

IBM once ruled the world. Remember the IBM displaywriter? Now found only in museums.

    Dynasties never last forever.

Apple themselves reckon to support some 2 million jobs in the USA, Across some 9,000 companies.

    .

IBM is still a Dow Jones listed company with over 300,000 staff and has over a century of history behind it ;)
