Trump - Trade Wars/Crash

As there is the presidential elections next year does anybody think Trump will let the trade wars continue and in effect cause some major downturn or even crash? Surely, this would not work well for him in the next year's election so he's best off resolving the trade war problems?

It won't affect him because he says and believes he can "win" a trade war.

It's a bit like saying you can win a nuclear war because you can damage them slightly more than they will damage you.

I'm hoping he doesn't get in again as he's bad for global trade.

The incumbent president has only lost once in the last 100 years if the American economy is doing well and its booming at the moment so I fear there is almost zero chance of him losing.

I think Trump wants a real war for his election year - Iran looks like country most likely to be in the cross hairs.

Funny how the draft dodger puts on military style outfits at any opportunity, must make the genuine military folk cringe

I don't like Trump, his trade wars are doing us no good and I wish they would stop.
But I have to admit there is some logic in what Trump is doing to put America First, he needs to do something about America's huge trade imbalance with China, intellectual property etc before China replaces the USA as number 1...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China%E2%80%93United_States_trade_war

Potentially could create opportunities as some of China's companies are devalued

Good for US trade, though, so move your investments there?

Not as if the Chinese play fairly. They've their own objectives.
