Very odd not to get ticketed within a few hours after paying!
Have been flying for decades frequently and I have always been ticketed within a few hours if not minutes.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Virgin Atlantic (VA) ticket immediately you book. Did you book with VA or Virgin Holidays? They are different. Virgin Holidays often do not ticket until much closer to when you are due to depart.
Have you tried doing a dummy booking on Delta as usually you can see which seats in what class are still available.
As stated above, until you have the 6 digit alpha numeric PNR for all VA and Delta sectors you will not be able to fully access your booking, including the seat reservation area. All VA Economy Delight and Classic bookings include free seat selection but not Economy Light. However, sometimes VA will block out seats in all classes for allocation at or when check in opens. But also they may release at anytime. So keep watching, but you will need your PRN.
Note that all PRN’s (Passenger Name Record) start with one of the following: B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K or L, followed by 5 other alphanumerics.0 -
Thanks all, managed to get it sorted after contacting Delta and giving them the confirmation #. Still wasn’t able to select the seats myself but the customer services rep was able to book them on my behalf. My wife is adamant it was booked via Virgin Atlantic.0

That’s how mine worked out. If you keep an eye on the booking you will possibly find that in a few weeks you have full access to change your seat (if that is what you want). I managed to move to an exit row seat. Delta don’t charge extra for those (at least not in Comfort+).0
