    And........?

"Might", "could have" and "don't have" are not valid complaint reasons.

Don't worry. I forget things all the time.

If you also might have had PPI, maybe over 20 years ago, but don't have any paperwork, and can't remember the name of the lender, there's not a lot you can do.

I suppose you could send off a bunch of speculative complaints to the top twenty UK lenders or whatever. But be prepared for it to be a complete and utter waste of time.
  • Its simple really. Only YOU will know if PPI was mis-sold to you. Just because you had it does not mean that it was mis-sold. If you feel that this was the case, then you put in a complaint to the firm concerned with your reasons for doing so. The complaint will then be investigated and a decision reached based on evidence available.
If you cannot remember if you had PPI, you enquire with the firms where you think you may have had it and then complain if you feel that it is appropriate to do so.
If you have absolutely no idea of who you may have taken PPI with, or when you may have taken it, then you have absolutely no chance of being able to progress with anything. Firms are required to NOT hold information indefinitely. If you have the details, then they will review any information that you have.
As has been said many times, there is no central register anywhere that shows who had PPI and who they had it with.

I am certainly not condoning any mis-selling of any product as if something was sold incorrectly, then redress should be given, but everyone should accept that they should at least know who to enquire to in the first place!

The hysteria that is being whipped up by the FCA / Media / MSE/ CMC's amongst others to get people to claim before the deadline is just ridiculous. 80% of the "Complaints" that I have seen over the past few days have never taken out PPI.

If you don't know if anyone sold you PPI, who would you complain to about the mis selling?
