The agent knew it wasn't a log burner though, as it was her that pointed it out to us, so why wasn't the advert correct? Just another dirty trick in my opinion to lure people in.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

Seriously, sometimes this forum actually works; that's why I stick around. It does not get any easier; I think hazyjo might back me up there, not that I would ever presume to be in the same area of erudition. Hazyjo is one savvy buyer of property, from what I have gathered. I cannot claim the same (heart over head, back in the day)
Do think this forum is working well for the OP though, you're right there!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -

I believe the quotation is correct... And there is such a thing as poetic licence. Just keep on keepin' on, LMCLMC. Finding the right house is like fishing; it takes patience and you never know what you might find.
To (I refuse to do this "@", it's so rude) hazyjo, :A
ETA: Can I tell my estate agent/lawyer joke yet?0 -
I'd be interested in hearing your joke smodlet!
Small house update; the EA has said the seller is relying on the extra money we've offered over the asking price to buy their next house, and are trying to get us to increase our lower offer again. Also started threatening me with going back to the other potential buyer to see if they still want to buy. I told them to jog on. Original asking price only, and with repair certificates, or we walk.
The hilarious thing is, they've actually built a room on the back of the house. This room is brand new; they were just finishing installing the electrics on our first viewing. From researching I can see this is a very bad idea. I will post a link to the house so you can all see, but only after we've definitely pulled out.0 -

Some people are deluded.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Good for you. I hate it when they say things like this. They are basically asking you, a stranger, to give them a free gift of cash so they can move house! Even worse than asking you for a loan for it lol.
Some people are deluded.
Darned right, that is just low. If they knew they needed £19k more than they were asking, it seems clear they were hoping to suck someone in and then shaft them. I hope they get stuck with it, new room (which I'll bet is brick) and all.
Hazyjo, you have probably heard this at least twice already but, for LMCLMC, here goes:
God and the devil are having a boundary dispute. God is getting more and more worked up while the devil just laughs at him. Eventually, God storms off in a huff yelling over his shoulder, "I'm gonna call my lawyer and my EA" to which the devil, who is by now nearly peeing himself, retorts, "Where are you gonna find a lawyer or EA on your side?"
There you go.0 -

I love a good funny, and very appropriate!
I reckon they were hoping to suck someone in yeah, because the agent told me at the beginning that the house was realistically priced and not at its top value. So they were trying to start a bidding war from the start. Another EA dirty tactic. It is Hunters by the way, clue's in the name lol.
We really have learned loads in the two months we've been house-hunting.
Jo, I didn't think of it like that, you are absolutely right! They really are taking the right royal p.0 -

One day, there will be someone on here asking exactly the questions you have, LMCLMC, and who might appreciate a dig at EAs/lawyers; please just pay it forward, that would be great.0 -
I will be here until the bitter end as long as no-one else minds listening to me chelp on
I am looking forward to posting some good news in the coming months. I'd really like to be in a new house by Christmas.0
