I hope you have dropped to below the original asking price. As you are finding out if you buy this house it will be a difficult sale in the future due to the mortgage NSC nightmare . What have houses by yours sold for recently?An answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

smodlet we will see what happens. perhaps the sellers will make our minds up for us and refuse the lowered offer. there are lots of other houses, just not as nice. another viewing tomorrow, so already we are starting to lean away from the house. perhaps a little more research is needed before we make a final decision. thanks for the heads up smodlet. as i say, naive FTB. and that's how they get away with it.
Hey. As already mentioned, I don't think you were/are naive; fwiw, you seem pretty clued up to me. Yes, there are FTBs on here whose ignorance and arrogance leave me speechless; you are definitely not one of them. There are also some who probably know more than I do now, let alone when I was an FTB.

yes it is an ex-council house, i would always go for those as they are far more roomy and (usually) better built
You would struggle to say that the 1930's traditionally built ex council semi detached house that we recently sold was well built. It really was the house that Jack built.
Terrible sound insulation, in fact no sound insulation, you could hear EVERYTHING that went on next door. Walls crumbled if you tried to drill into them, sagging floors, woefully inadequate floor joists, layout that wasted space in an already small house, the list could go on. It wasn't one of Sheffield council's finest properties that is for sure. We were glad to see the back of it.
Our David Wilson new build is far better put together and feels a much nicer home that is put together better. Being detached is also a revelation. We will never go to an attached house again after the ex council house. It has put us off for life!0 -
Metal in concrete if it's anything like my old plumbing is anything to go by would be run don't walk.
Concrete can eat into it and eventually disintegrate...I've just paid 800.00 to replace an incoming water pipe which had been eroded by a concrete floor ..imagine if that happened to the frame of a house
Just to add an EA should know if it is quite generic in that area or was it one of those horrid online setups??0 -
