Why did you ignore the credit card statements from New Day? Are you claiming you didn't receive them?
Also when using a new card on Amazon, they ask for the CVV number (and this is ignoring the fact it really shows you what card you're using to pay with when using Amazon, even on one click)
If you were buying business/work items then really you should be using an Amazon Business account, at no extra cost.
I think the £15 goodwill gesture from Amazon was generous and and a good overall outcome0 -
Just another heads up
When you build up your points on your Amazon credit card they are automatically added to your Amazon account in the form of gift cards. Your account will then default to take your gift card balance first even if you set your Amazon credit card as the default. Not really a problem but I do like to 'save' my gift card balance for Christmas.

As others have said - Amazon haven't put you in debt - you didn't read the terms and conditions - and hit the 'next' button without paying attention - then on getting the credit card failed to keep a note of any activity on it, or review any monthly statements, which also would have gone for the card you 'normally use' as well - as you didn't pick up the fact that payments weren't being taken there for things you were buying. You might need to take a bit more time reading the small print when it comes to credit agreements - and also to check in your accounts at least once a month to ensure the activity is accurate. Had you done so - you'd not be in this pickle and having to come and rant on a forum to try and paint Amazon as being the bad guys here. If it was an oversight - it's usually better to be humble in your apology and you might get some sympathy - but if you go in all guns blazing about something you failed to read - then you're not going to get much action taken0

It's definately pretty obvious when you make a purchase that the card is the Amazon card, it even shows a picture of it and it's black so it's hard to miss.
You'd want to be using the Amazon card anyway so you can earn the points or what's the point in having it?, the APR isn't great so it's kinda pointless to get Amazon card and not use it when the whole point in that card is to earn points on purchases.
If it's just a card for emergencies then you'd be better off with a lower APR card not one that rewards you for using it?0 -
I also took an Amazon card over a year ago and, if I recall, you are asked if you want to have the card set as your default. It can easily be changed. But then I always tend to check the payment method before proceeding anyway. I use it once a month maybe and pay it all off.0

I think that now the OP has ranted - they most likely wont be coming back0

So you were buying things from Amazon and not noticing you were not being charged on your original credit card?
I made it quite clear that our bank account app tells us when we need to transfer money to cover a payment. as an amount of money is transferred into it regularly for purchases it rarely needs to tell us. So no, in the space of 26 days we did not notice and neither did we
have a statement from either credit card or bank in that time.0
