What happens if I don't top-up my adblue?

I thought the idea is the adblue decomposes in the hot exhaust to ammonia (and carbon dioxide), which reacts with the nitrogen oxides to make delicious water* and inert nitrogen. If urea is coming out the tailpipe something is wrong.
* handy as apparently we are running out of it- where is it going?

well top the blooming thing up then. If it has a LR service plan it will be done by the dealer for free. It's urea it's cheap, you are running an expensive car get on with it.
As I said pumping out NO2 could be a laughing matter.
Maybe have a look at what AdBlu does to your emissions.0 -
That Aldi one looks good value. I used to buy it from Halfords for £11, but Tesco now stocks it for £10 for 10 litres. You can refill those plastic containers at some petrol stations but to be honest, the refilling stations are more expensive than buying a new container.0

what a laugh it will be if it pumps nitrous oxide into the air.sevenhills wrote: »When my warning on the dash comes on, I have 1,000 miles to top it up.
Surely if the pollution goes into the air, it will end up in rivers and streams.
It was a joke. Nitrous oxide is commonly called laughing gas, and is sold in small silver cylinders that "yoofs" use to get an anaesthetic high in the street. (Either that or they have been making whipped cream in the street...):D
It is a greenhouse gas, and is now being blamed for ozone depletion, rather than pollution of water courses.
Nitrous oxide is not one of the NOx gases produced by normal combustionI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Nitrous oxide is produced by normal combustion, hence why it's becoming a problem

NOx refers to a collection of harmful Nitrogen oxides such as Nitric Oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide, this is not the same as Nitrous Oxide which is an anaesthetic.0 -

I think you made a spelling error? 'Think' should be 'Hope'.'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.0 -
Err, maybe I'm behind the times with my schoolboy humour, but, would urine not work just as well as Adblue?0
