Of course the loan company should able to tell you what your minimum payment is going to be but it is probably in their interests to keep you from being too well informed about their product and the way things are worked out. That is great about reducing the minimum payment on CC3 so that you can pay more to the loan. Although the interest rates on the cards are not great, it is so much better than the 89% apr on the loan. Did you approach your other credit card provider to see if they can offer you a better rate?

I approached them and found out the rate is actually at 31%, not the 38% i thought - small win. Unfortunately could not balance transfer. However, i think im OK with that. Both of the cards have been cut up and unlinked from my phone, so im just going to pay them off and be done with it. Hopefully, my credit rating will start to get better, which then may lead to better opportunities, however, you never know i could be debt free by then! :j

I have a feeling with your determination that it won't be long till you are debt free and won't have to worry about better credit card offers ever again!

Great news about the £75 :T where are you hoping to go on holiday?

Oh i know you are right, when i think back to all the bonuses and decent salaries ive earnt over the years, and what ive got to show for it (apart from clothes and shoes :o ) it makes me feel sick! Lesson is 100% learnt now. I have to say im really excited about the journey and what i can achieve. Especially when you read through other diaries and the achievements they have had!

You sound very determined so hopefully you will succeed.

My holiday fund is for future holidays. This years is The Lake District for 10 days in September and is already paid for. I am walking the South West Coast Path though and need to pay for accommodation further down in West Cornwall for a few days while I do the stretches too far for me to do in a day trip. I have a few hotels in mind on the Lizard peninsular and one in Falmouth. I have a holiday fund I dip into to pay for these as weather and time permits.

I have also spoken to the loan company. Not only is their APR ridiculous, but as its not really a loan (see previous post lol) I am not sure exactly what the minimum payment is. They have informed me it is (AROUND?!) £62, and they wont send me a statement until the 5th Aug, 10 days before payment is due. Obviously all my spare money is going to be spent over paying this but i thought it seemed strange that they couldn't be a bit clearer on this?

The cynic in me says it is not in their interest to be clear about the interest you are being charged or the repayments you need to make and I am so surprised they are not falling foul of the new regulations brought in last year except the lending is in the form of a "loan?" and not credit cards. I would be examining any paperwork you signed on taking this out to see exactly what these terms and conditions are.

That sounds lovely. I saw a lovely little place called Clovelly in Devon last night on the internet. It looks gorgeous! was thinking of saving for a long weekend next year to go check out some of the UK!

  • Wednesday Update

    Good Morning!

I am a very tired girl today. My son decided to wake me up at 4am, and having to be in the office by 7.30am has been a killer. Even the weather is reflecting my mood today. Where has summer gone??

Anyway. Today i have already paid in £120 into my account. This was cash that I had saved for a while. The problem with cash is I cant see it reflected in my budget/saving. Ive put it into my EF pot at the moment, as im waiting for payday to see how the budget works out before i start transferring it everywhere. This has brought my EF up to £180.

Good news with the chicken challenge - I have completed the 3 days worth of chicken meals. Roast chicken Sunday, coronation chicken, and pasta bake with chicken (swapped from the stir fry i originally planned). I will have the last of the pasta bake for my lunch at the office today. This has proved to me, i have been way over spending on food! way way way over spending haha.

Spend this week - I have only spent £40 for my Monday fuel top up, all budgeted for, and £18.50 for my contribution to my Grandmas funeral flowers for tomorrow. I also dont have any spendy days coming up. However, i am going to set aside a couple of pounds as we have run out of juice, which i did think would happen so sort of expected.

Payday - 15 days - Hurry up! i want to see these numbers move!!
    EF - £180
    Debt - £3569.91

Clovelly is gorgeous. Such a pretty place. No cars so you have to leave your car at the large car park at the top of the hill and walk down. Lovely harbour. Well worth saving up for a visit there. I am not looking forward to walking the coast path round there though due to the extremely hilly terrain but it just means the views are superb.

Well done on getting up to £180 on the EF. You will have it up at £500 in no time.

Brilliant on the chicken challenge. You could do the same with minced beef and do three meals with that next week? Cottage pie, Bolognese and Lasagne or Chilli con carne?

I hope your grandmas funeral is not too much of an ordeal tomorrow.

It will be great to cracking on getting that awful loan down after you get paid. Have you set aside money for your holiday or is that coming from your next payday too?

We are obviously in sync, the mince challenge is next. I brought the 1kg of mince last shop and portioned and froze! I am off work on Friday, so will batch cook for lunches next week, before heading to do the weekly shop. I am going to try and aim for £30 this week. Remember i originally budgeted £50 per week, last week took advice from you guys and got it down to £37, so now i have meat im going to see if i can get it to £30. However, i need to be careful i find a place i can actually sustain it!

I have to be honest i am dreading tomorrow, i was exceptionally close to her. I think this is why im quite so focused at the moment, because finally sorting things out has been a great distraction from the grief. Thank you for your well wishes!

Holiday is all paid for - all inclusive (alcohol, drinks, snack, all meals etc). Spending money for ice cream if out etc, will come from my weekly food/fuel budget for that week. The only thing I need to pay for is the airport car parking. Checked topcashback and there is a deal on there which i will do. I will pay for it from the sale of the old ipad which will more than cover it. On a side note ive also already got £102 pending in my cashback account, im going to mark this to pay for my sons birthday treat at the end of September, he fancies lego land.

I read that you cant drive there, it looks so lovely! i know what you mean about the coastal walks, but boy the views are worth it. I think sometimes we forget how beautiful some places in the UK actually are!
