So for the avoidence of doubt, yes i dislike banks, yes i dislike debt collectors, yes i dislike bailiffs, and i also dislike anyone else that makes peoples lives harder than they should be.
You always did come across as somebody who had an axe to grind with the credit industry as a whole. The bottom line is she owed the money and paid it. If they were bailiffs she already had the CCJ. Everything else in the post was conjecture.
Tell me Sourcrates would you be this ethically particular and sanctimonious if the lady in question owed you this money?0 -

That is a good point, and very well made, and i will attempt to provide you with an answer.
Owing money to an individual, is different to owing money to a bank, and i will tell you why.
Individuals often have to work very hard for the money they get, i should know, banks do not, they create the money they lend out of thin air, but i`m sure you know that already, its called fractional reserve banking, banks only have to hold reserves equal to a fraction of the bank's deposit liabilities, thus creating credit.
This credit is loaned out to people by the banks, so they are actually loaning you money, that does not really exist......yet.
That aside, banks are more able than individuals to take the hit when things go wrong, they also plan for a certain amount of defaults, this is echoed in their buisness plans.
So yes, if as an individual, i had loaned this money, and not had it paid back, i would not be happy, but then i would not have loaned the money in the first place, if i were a bank, it would not bother me too much, as i would have made plans to cover such an eventuality, i can sell the debt for money, and also claim tax releif on it.
So the only people making any money from this are the debt collectors and the court system.
My axe has long since been ground away, i don`t know what age you are, but back in the 80`s and 90`s, banks literally gave away money in the form of loans and credit cards, no checks were done, you didnt even have to apply, little cards used to come through the post, "pre-approved for £10,000 credit limit" were common place, been young and stupid, many people got into debt that way.
I have stood up for people on these forums a few times in the past, and been severly berated for doing so, because mine was the minority view, well i think that sometimes, the minority view is the one to have and i stand by it, i`m sorry you feel i`m been sanctimonious, that was not my intension, i just dont like seeing individuals been bullied, especially on these forums, for doing or saying something you may disagree with.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Bit precious are we not sourcrates.
So are you denying deleting peoples posts when corrected then amending your original posts to make it look like you were correct?
That is abuse of being a board guide.0 -

It was irrelivant to the post, as is this present exchange, but again, i`m been forced to defend myself for what was infact a nothing event.
Show me in the forum rules where deleting posts is tantamount to abuse ?
I have discretion (within certain perameters) to delete what i see fit, as befits my role, the remark by foxtrotoscar was intended to bait me into a responce, for what was a simple typing error, no more, no less, so fell into that catagory.
I run my boards with absolutly zero tollerance for trolls or people looking to go on a power trip, thats why any abuse is dealt with very swiftly, my boards, MSE rules.

Ban you ? firstly that is not within my remit, secondly you attatch too much importance to yourself, i`m going into the kitchen shortly, when i return, i`ll have forgotton your name, I don`t know why some people choose to pick fights with strangers on internet forums, i really couldn`t care less about what you say to me to be honest.
Apparently the CAB advisor agreed with me that a complaint should be made so i would rather trust his advice than yours :
