    Yea massive congratulations........

I don't recall reading anything about her being single? It might be somewhere in the OP's other posts, or via PM maybe. Thank you for sharing anyhow.

The sister owed some money, and the sister paid money back. This is not a good thing? I wish I'd known this before paying my mortgage :(

No, you are technically correct, the money was owed, although the debt was statute barred.
My issue is with the gentlemen who called on the OP`s sister, be they bailiffs, or just collection agents, I am a fervant advocate for bailiff reform you see, they tend to say and do things that are not always, lets say, legal, don`t be fooled by the nice chaps on the telly, that is carefully edited, and in real life, bailiffs are not that nice.

The OP admits they don't have the full story. Where are you getting two thugs from or the fact that she was terrified or the fact that she's single and on her own from?

You are a Board Guide? Really?

Yes really, I do have an opinion, in my long experiance, I know that`s how debt collectors behave, two men knock on the door demanding money, she paid them out of fear of getting a CCJ, (which to be fair she may already have) she was obviously on her own, what if it had been your wife/girlfreind, what then ??

Do you approve of these tactics ?, I certainly don`t.

I don`t care what the sisters home arrangements are, what they did was wrong, and is against the FCA `s guidence on fair debt collection practice`s, makes no differance if the money was owed, or statute barred or whatever, there is a right way to do things and a wrong way, these people were clearly wrong.

These delightful people may have knocked on the door, offered her a box of chocolates/bunch of flowers/latest issue of motorcycle news while they politely explained that if the debt remained unpaid for another 7 days they would, regretfully, have to seek a CCJ so she decided to pay the money she owed.

That money was owing and she paid seems to be the only thing beyond doubt - whether the debt was statute barred, the callers were nasty or nice etc is just speculation,

Motorcycle news would swing it for me.

You need to have a balanced view...you don't, and have been found out several times to be wrong legally with your advice. You abuse your BG status for your own ends. You have deleted a post of mine and ignored my PM requesting you reinstate it...why?

It's an issue for a Board Guide for some reason. They seem ill equipped to be a BG. They posted that a CPA = Constant Payment Authority and when I posted correcting them my post 'disappeared' and their post was quickly corrected. Coincidence? I think not. I wouldn't trust them or their advice.

Having only read the above post on this thread I bet I could guess the so called 'board guide'

They have a habit of posting completely incorrect information then deleting their posts to make them look better. MSE should be policing their guides.
