I think they are the cheapest but people have had problems with their billing and customer service.
I initially had some problem when I switched about 1 year ago. Like you I had just moved house. I think some of the problems I have had is that the house is quite new and the gas pipes and meter were layed by some company other than the usual one.
Anyway it took a while to switch my gas and I did get some silly gas bills based on stupid estimated values.
All sorted out though. My electric gets read, my gas never does but I can easily put my gas readings inon their web site (used to be a problem not now). So I tend to get sensible bills these days. Once you are switched it is not to bad.0 -
You only have to look 5 threads down from this one. Then trawl through the rest of the pages for all the tales of woe regarding Powergen and their customer service.0

Sorry Judi, I can't. I am now with Scottish Power and have no probs.
I'll just give you one example of Powergen, sending my final gas bill for £117 when they actually owed me £8. They don't know their **** from their elbow.
Sorry0 -
PowerGen used to have very good customer service, but the last year or two it has become just OK customer service. Never had a problem with PowerGen's billing.
We switched from PowerGen to SWEB as SWEB were cheaper than PowerGen, PowerGen did grab back our supply without our consent, SWEB managed to take it back again as we didn't want to move from SWEB and we will remain on the same pre-increase rates as if we never left SWEB. So far SWEB customer services have been very good. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Powergen and Customer Service are definately not compatible.0

 And you believe Powergen?
Read the other posts on here.
Seriously, I wish you luck. I just wish I'd never had anything to do with them and their subsidiary Staywarm. And if you do get problems do as I did and don't hesitate to call Energy Watch, they sorted it for me in no time.0 -
Judi.. are your powergen accounts live. ie are you getting bills, etc. If so, then powergen are telling you the truth. If n account is live. Both companies and the distributor have agreed on the start readings. Its the way things workBeware the green?0
