My two are laying on my bed, the windows are open and a breeze wafting over them :) Old Diggs is such a smelly boy when he is hot. I gave him a bath again yesterday but today I can smell him sitting in the office here and he is a room away

After today, I can certainly see how dogs can die in hot cars. Our car was absolutely roasting today.

Anyways ... back to the topic ... how to keep pets cool in this heat ?

Always have fresh water available, upstairs and downstairs

Windows open on the latch (we can't open ours wide as fluffy cat will try to sit on the open window bit and threaten to jump out, not good when its the upstairs window!)

I won't take my dogs out in the car, and try to keep in the shade when out walking them.

Loads of drinking water available, and sprinkle them with the hosepipe a couple of times a day.

Leave the long walks till after the sun's gone down and make sure they have plenty of rest stops.

My male dog just cooled off by jumping in the park lake and traumatising the poor ducks!

Have the fur trimmed if long and shaggy - yes they will look a bit odd, but they will appreciate the air getting to their skin. Not too short though as you do not want them to get burnt.

Chillows are great for humans and animals. I share mine with TJ. They are not cheap, but they are well worth the money

They are fabulous we fight over mine, TJ pushes until he gets his tummy on mine. They are brilliant for keeping the mutt cool in the car, I havnt a pet one I just use my human one.

I would recomend one to all ladies of a certain age that suffers from hot flushes as well. They are a godsend x
