I get a flannel and soak it in cold water, wring it out so it nearly feels dry and gently stroke the cat with it wetting the fur slightly. Then i also have all the fans on - not very mse at all. but id rather have a healthy cat rather than pay a vet bill for an overheated one lol. The heart condition / bladder probs one lies on the bed and has a big fan and i take food & water to him and check him every couple of hours. he is definatley spoilt but worth it.

There are some really good tips on here, thanks everyone :T

I discovered during yesterday morning's grooming session that the boy quite liked being groomed with a wet brush. It got a little water right through to his skin and seemed to both cool him and "lift" his coat so his body heat could escape a little more easily.

He lay stretched out on the cool bathroom floor and just rolled over from time to time to let me do a different bit. During the very hot afternoon he seemed more comfortable than he has done over the last few days.

The short coated girl, (her coat sticks up, vertically almost) is a little lizard! She spent the entire afternoon moving around so as to keep her body in the sun and her head in the shade and really objected when I tried to offer her a little more shade. :rotfl::rotfl:

My little cat has found a nice shady spot under a bush on some lovely wet soil to lie down on. I think thats where she'll stay all afternoon today. I was calling and calling her this morning and she didnt answer. She normally calls back to me "I'm over here mummy!" so i was getting a little worried, then i spotted her little face sticking out from under a leaf staring right at me as if to say "Duh im right here!" Arent they funny little creatures

Mine were expressing their view of life in terms of "flop" last night. Flop on sections of floor, on carpets, on the cat tree, in the bath, on the sofa and so on. Take a few steps, flop again. Roll over, look at me, complaining miow, roll back.

Went to fuss them, they stalked off..obviously I'm too hot. Bless 'em.

Guinea pigs were lying stretched out with a 2 litre frozen water bottle between them, loving it.

Perry is feeling it too, he flops most of the day, but have 2 water bowls down now and check every time i go to the room how the water levels are and put ice cubes in to keep it cool and we have to keep telling him to go drink
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

My dog munches on ice-cube. Bizarrely she prefers the duck shaped ones.

Half fill and freeze some empty plastic bottles and then wrap them in a blanket rather than spending a tenner on the pad. I shove them in Dodo's crate if I have to go out.

Also if you have a bit of marble or granite or even some unused tiles, stick them in the shade and they stay cooler than concrete. Work great with the frozen bottles.

    Lol! I love that!

I'm wondering where I can scrounge a bit of marble or granite from, that is a great suggestion tiamai_d. :T

Sirbendy, I can just picture your contented piggies, :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Picklepick, Skye has decided that my potato plants offer the best shade, they grow in a circle in a huge planter and there is just room for her on the cool soil in the middle of the pot with the plants towering above her. It took me ages to work out where she had vanished to.

The cats are currently lying outside enjoying a very, very fine shower of rain.... so why do they run when I try the same thing with a plant mister!!

I was tempted to get one of those neck ties that you freeze and it keeps cool for hours on the dog.
