    Plusnet – Really Bad Experience

When changing to fibre broadband Plusnet messed up my connection and left me without any internet for nearly a month.  They did not listen to what the engineers were telling them and so I had to finally cancel my service.  They promised me a refund of the line rental I had paid up front then reneged on this.  They promised me compensation for the lack of service and additional costs I incurred as a result of having no broadband and also reneged on that.  It doesn’t appear to me that they can be trusted at all.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Thanks everyone for very useful comments. I have now sorted out a better deal with Virgin. Not as good as PlusNet's offer but it only lasts until next year (balance of current contract) when I think I will give PlusNet a whirl.
The only problem with that is that you will probably have to pay about £50 for a new OR line provision if you leave VM. VM runs on a separate network.

Last week it went down on 2 days for hours at a time.  Not good when you are trying to work from home.
Was better this week but still went down yesterday from just before 3pm for a couple of hours.
I have an additional router, and signal boosters to mainly boost the WiFi as the Plusnet router performance is poor.  For the PC I have Powerline adaptors.
I have seen when people try to ask for support the phone calls, chat, emails, support tickets aren't answered.  Anything on Twitter also seems to be days after the problem, so it's possibly resolved by that time.

Could be an interesting time for you in the current climate.

  • We were with Plusnet for five years or so (so as an indie and then after purchase). We're now with iTAlk. I deeply wish we'd stayed with PN.
