I had one ages ago from 'eBay'. I can't remember what the said exactly on it, but I clicked on the link and (unwisely) logged in. I thought the site looked a bit different, as I later realised it was ebay.com, not ebay.co.uk. Once I 'logged in' the next page asked for my PIN number! How stupid do they think I am! Everyone knows the only person who knows your pin number is yourself (and whoever you tell) They didn't even ask for bank details before that.

Needless to say I reported it eBay and changed my password.
• Glad this site is warning me. I think paypal should warn me, especially, since they have my cc and checking account info. Wow. I need to be more careful. Thanks for telling me about this...

Yep, all your paypal log ins and emails carry an anti phish warning, as do most bank emails and every bit of paper the bank sends you.

Dear eBay Community Member,

A previously entered bid on your item (item number) has been retracted or cancelled. You can view the retraction/cancellation and the reason provided by selecting the (bid history) link from the individual item page. As a result of this retraction/cancellation, there is a possibility that the high bid amount and the current high bidder have changed. You can always view the current status of any item by going to the individual item page. (Be sure to refresh or reload the page to view the most up-to-date information.)
Regards,
eBay
EDIT; Ebay confirmed today that this is a fake email

2ND EDIT; Am confused now, ebay have emailed again (i sent them a copy of this email 8 times in total as they kept sending irrelevant auto responses) this time it says it is a proper email from them. I click on the link to my item as it says but there is no record of a retracted bit. So am now non the wiser, still dont know if its fake or not!

It doesn't look fake TBH as it expects you to log in properly and securely. I get a lot of them when ebay have removed a user and they have then removed their bid. Ebay are like paypal they tell you everything is fake as they are a bit too lazy to check them out or know what they are doing.
