You don't seem to understand democracy. Democracy does not depend on the public mood, it depends on who wins the most votes. "Leave" won the most votes and therefore the result must be implemented. Of course people are allowed to change their minds but they must express that democratically in a future referendum to "join" the EU.
Or a referendum brought about prior to leaving, if that is the result of due democratic process.
(not that I think this will actually happen)

I think the future consequences of bad actions are in Karma and in the perpetuation of negative energy.

I am a great believer in negative energy and I thank scgf for the guidance on this simple method of producing it. Right now, I am working to capture and harness this energy as a clean fuel to reduce my families carbon footprint.

As such, with energy being so simple to produce I urge those of you with a moral compass to join my green revolution and serially switch bank accounts to produce ever more of this free energy we can use to turn away from fossil fuels.

Well you have castigated me in this thread, merely for trying to do the right thing in convincing you to approach this matter with an open mind and challenge your beliefs.
You really don't see how arrogant this sounds do you. You, trying to get me to to have an open mind and challenge my beliefs! Lol!

I really think it's about time this thread came to an end. I will post no further comments. It has achieved more than I'd hoped. Over 8 pages too!

17.4 million is not the majority! There are 65 million inhabitants in the UK. If you're talking just about those who voted, then in the EU elections more people voted for solidly pro-remain parties than pro-leave - and that's not taking into account those remainers who voted Labour or Conservative.

A democracy cannot function if you try to speculate the result to include those not eligible to vote or who decided not to. Remain parties have never received more than 17.4 million votes between them at any election since 2016.

Actually scgf, I would love you to post once more to explain what is was you were hoping to achieve.

I certainly don't castigate you for your beliefs - I think you are wrong, but that is just my opinion. You seem to be working through some sort of existential dilemma to my eyes, but you have contradicted yourself several times and changed/adapted what you have said, and yes, got quite personal to people such as masonic who were just disagreeing with you and pointing out your inconsistencies. I actually think you brought up some pertinent points (again, not that I particularly agree with) but seem unable to see that if people feel they (or their actions) are being called immoral then they are likely to be offended to a greater or lesser degree. As I stated in a previous port, I don't care very much for a stranger's opinion of me as I have thought through my actions and am comfortable with them. I am not going to try to force you to change your mind as you have stated that you can't/won't (although you aver that many people who voted for Brexit have changed their minds, so if they can why not you?). I'm certainly not going to make you to take part in any action that you feel immoral so do yourself a favour and stop worrying about things that are doing no harm. There is enough bad feeling and judgement in the world without adding to it.

Is it religious people who you think don't have minds or people with 'faith' who don't - or both? Can you explain why you believe this to be true?
    castle96 wrote: »
Faith in what ? Religion ? Same thing to me, all a 'sickness/need'. Anyway, going off topic

I was hoping for a slightly more mindful response that that - which is why I put the word Faith in inverted commas. Faith and organised religion are not really the same thing - you've fallen into the same trap as many people on this one.

Not really 'off topic' either as it was one of your posts that implied that 'religious' people were mindless - and now sick.

NB I'm not religious but I have encountered what I can only describe as God 3 times - although it could have been the out-of-date loaves and fish I ate.

It does not come from a place of arrogance. It is a standard to which I hold myself, and I believe we should all try to encourage this of one another. It is the reason we now live in a society that is far more progressive and tolerant than in the past.

I brought it up because I believe you are capable of it, even if you do not. Maybe one day you will see this for yourself.

I really don't think you're in a position to call anyone arrogant. :(
