Collecting a ATM card and pin in a Bank

I have to switch from my current Bank to another Bank and I am thinking of Nationwide . My problem is it will not be safe for the new Bank to send my cash card and pin to my address as several other people live in the house as well and important letters from Banks have fallen in to the wrong hands in the not to distant past
My question is if I open a new account with a Bank can I collect the card and the pin in the branch where I opened the account ? or does the card and the pin have to b e sent to you by post

It's usually sent by post.
You need to sort out some sort of secure mail deposit box for your post to go into, and/or report said people for fraud.0 -
Some banks will, some banks won't, so you'll need to ask them.0

Something like this or a PO Box perhaps? Or a trusted family member or friend you could have mail sent to instead? Otherwise you will need to contact your bank and ask if this can be arranged.0 -

Same advice given when you asked about the DWP.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
If you have general concerns about mail security, your best bet is to ask the Post office to hold your mail at the local office so you can collect it periodically. It's free and you don't have to muck about with PO boxes etc.
I have a friend who lived in a small block of flats with no mail boxes, so all the mail was just dumped in a pile in the lobby. Long story short, someone got hold of his bank correspondence and managed to scam his way into a sizable amount (he ended up getting a refund from the bank as it was their fault for not following their own security protocol).
He used the above method to stem any further issues.0
