I’m pretty sure that JRM said that we would see the financial benefit in time but that’s maybe 50 years away.
No, he never said we definitely ever would & if we did then it could be a long way away. He's already seen a financial benefit, that was why he took you along on the journey. Our top lawyer.
If top lawyers were always right then we wouldn't need courts.
When people say you can't do things, whether it's apartheid or going against harvey weinstein, people turn out to be wrong.
Nobody voted for a no deal brexit. If you want to give a mandate for that, you need another referendum
MPs were democratically elected, they form an executive & if they can't replace one executive with another and revoke article 50 then that would seem to be quite undemocratic. Are you not living in the UK & have you not been paying attention to what our new government are promising then?
There's lots of positivity there, though I do understand that you (like so many remainers) struggle with positivity of any kind.
The joke politician who has been sacked from a newspaper job for lying has promised enough to get himself into power, but he either doesn't intend on delivering it or hasn't figured out that he can't afford it. Yeah, I can't see why people aren't more positive about him.
I don't think Scottish people are as dumb as he thinks they are, with his promise of money to prevent them leaving the UK.I wish I could see the look on your face as you realise that leaving the EU turns out to be a real benefit to Britain, which prospers way beyond the expectations of the detractors.
I wish I could see the look on your face when you realise that you just swapped your cow from some plain old beans. We've not been living in an oppressive regime that prevented us from doing anything, our lack of recent progress is the countries fault and blaming other people isn't going to get us out of it any time soon. Makes you feel better blaming others, for a short while, though.0 -
Quite.
The very opposite of the demographic which your remainer chums tell us are supportive of Brexit in fact.
What, still?
Ah of course, you're a remainer.
You refuse to see the point even when it's tattooed into your retina.
I posted the link originally.
Nowhere did I say there was a landslide move in opinion; read my post again.
Aren't you remainers persistently trying to tell us that there's a change in mood and that people have changed their minds?
Well even with the demographic which you say is least-disposed towards Brexit my link proves that to be untrue.
If you're inviting new evidence you may regret it.
I try to post something a little more balanced for you hardcore remainers but still your preconceptions, biases and (bluntly) sheer hatred of Brexit disallows you from anything other than the usual blinkered tirades of negativity.
You are going to find these coming months leading up to Brexit very difficult, as you learn just how much the EU (don't) care about their citizens.
I think that Coutts customers are on the whole likely to be richer & older than the average UK citizen. So definitely not in the demographic that is going to support Brexit. Much more likely to be "your" people.
And so, at the end of a lecture given to natural Brexit supporters by a so called "Brain of Brexit", an exit poll comes up with a result that is statistically with the norm for tossing a coin.
You are however correct in your assertion that I will find the coming months difficult. I strongly suspect that after Brexit, I am going to be worse off than I am now. I further suspect that you and many thousands of others will be too.
If Brexit is still such a good idea, why is all the talk now of emergency planning? Where are the sunlit uplands? What happened to the easiest deal in history? What about "they need us more than we need them?
You've been sold a sack of $#!t & been told that there's magic beans at the bottom. And no doubt, when they fail to sprout, it will anybody's fault except yours.0 -

The GFC cost us all around £20k each. No one seems particularly bothered. Not least that those that subsequently benefited.0 -

It's the rich old people that wanted brexit. It's the only minority that it will work for, they'll die happy knowing they can keep foreigners out. The economic down sides won't hurt them much because they have less time to go and alot of them have retired, you'll just have to work harder to pay their pensions.0 -

Sorry. That's exactly what I meant. My fat fingers & a bit of hurried editing got me lost.0 -
Quite a few rich, old people think Brexit is a jolly good idea, old chap. Put things back the way they used to be, and put the riff raff back in their place. If the economy tanks they can make lots of money shorting the point like Farage did just after the referendum. And no need to worry about losing their jobs because they don't work on assembly lines in Japanese-owned car factories.
I'm related to some of these people.0 -
Anyway, no doubt Mr Johnson will do a great job and get you the lovely Brexit you want.0
