Buying USD

Options
I’m off on holiday to the states at the end of November.

Does anyone think it could be worth buying USD now in advance before any kind of brexit possibility of making the GBP drop again.

    Yes, some people do.

    Other people don't.

Who is right? You'll know in December.

You can't second guess the currency markets - they already know everything you do and more.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
  • I guess so! Think I will buy then cannot see any outcome where the pound won’t drop a little
  • I’m assuming I’m going to need ID too changing cash for £4000, such a pain.

    Would you be taking cash?

I'd have a serious rethink about that .....have you looked into Martin's piece about travel money?
  • Yes cash I think is easier generally, there is a safe in the room etc.

If we buy a prepaid travel card we will be charged a fortune by their cash machines in Vegas

Must admit you're a braver person than me carrying all that cash with you.
  • Always have taken cash personally. Any issues with a bank card whilst there and you have nothing.

We are off to the States on Sunday

$200 in hard cash, two £500 Fair Fx cards in dollars, they gave £70 bonus, via MSE Halifax Clarity & Nationwide Childs flex account.

I would do some research on the cost of ATM's, an awful lot of places are free. You can even get cash when paying the for goods, at some stores, same as here

We have bought a can of coke before using plastic
Private Parking Tickets - Make sure you put your Subject Access Request in after 25th May 2018 - It's free & ask for everything, don't forget the DVLA :D
