We have been informed by the provider of Sky.com email that your email account has been accessed without permission. As a precautionary measure your account has been locked.
To unlock your account please go to Sky.com and follow the steps provided or call us on: 03442 411 280.
Is this a scam? My account has indeed been locked. Not sure whether it is a genuine sky number. Will ring sky tomorrow to find out if I can get through.

99% of that sort of thing is SCAM but ringing SKY customer service rather than the given number is probably best.
I would think who else might have accessed your account
Perhaps also you could get an email address not linked to your ISP provider so you are not at the mercy of such arbitrarynessI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Sky use Yahoo of course as the email provider, I wonder if they've had a breach?0
-
Yes I beleive it's genuine. I received a text and then an email and had to ring Sky to get my account unlocked. I am always very suspicious of scams so didn't click on any links in the email but went to Sky.com in my browser to log in. The a/c was locked out and advice there was that I had to ring them on 0344 241 1280 (same number on their website as in the email). Immediately told me there was a 45 mins average wait time so that increased my confidence that it really is Sky !!!! The agent was poor and annoying but unlocked my account. She could not give me any information about the data breach other than to confirm there had been one. I also asked her to explain how there could have been a breach on my Sky.com/Yahoo email when I don't have one and that Sky themsleves had advised me in March 2017 they were deleting and de-activating my Sky email as I didn't use it. So that makes me think Sky have done a generic account lock out for any email addresses included in Yahoo's data breach. And that data breach must have been at a time when my Sky.com email still existed, i.e. 2 years ago. Or they failed to delete my email a/c when they said they would. I've raised a complaint with Sky to ask fro more info on the data breach and to determine if my Sky/Yahoo email still exists or not. Not holding my breath.0

Thanks just spoke to sky after waiting 45 mins on the phone. She went through resetting password and security question with me. It has been unlocked the whole process took 1 hr from ringing to talking to somebody and resolving issues. I have tried to rest it myself but unable to do so. She told me it needs to be done with security question. I know next time what to do. What got me confused she asked me to go to my iPad and change settings0

I never click on the link or ring the number in the email.
If I have a doubt, open a new window, type in web address myself and log in and view whatever I need to that way - 99% it's a scam.0 -
I have Sky myself and I've just been into my account, the only email in my Sky/Yahoo account is from 6 years ago so it's not affecting everybody.0

It might depend if its a sky / yahoo email or another one - eg gmail or hotmail . Those won't (??) have been as exposed as those managed by SKY/Yahoo. Mine wasn't one of those and I haven't been affected. (Other SCAMS are available.... :rotfl: )I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Hmm, I got an email today from Sky(not about the Yahoo email) stating they'd changed my password and I had to reset it. Reset it easily enough but I'm now really wondering if somethings gone on and they've just not announced it yet.Dear Customer
At Sky we take the security of your data and information extremely seriously. To help keep your account safe we have reset the password for your Sky account.
You will now need to choose a new password to access your account. To reset your password, please visit https://skyid.sky.com/resetpassword/skycom and enter your email or username.
We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Sky
Edit: I went straight to the Sky website rather than click on the link and they had changed the password.0
