  • Thank you savings sorry i've been quiet i tried posting just after Christmas in an attempt to continue as usual. The truth is Christmas (family situation) really took it out of me emotionally and my MH took a fair knock. I am unhappy with most aspects of my life: health, home, finances, work, family. Family is the situation mentioned before. Health is pretty poor at the moment and, of course, affects everything. Home, needs tidying, cleaning and jobs doing and i want to move so much! Finances - welcomed in Christmas and the new year with 3 separate trips to the garage and then emergency dentist appointment - i need to update my sig because i have no EF left :( i know that's what it's there for but it seems there is always something knocking you back. Work- i never got a reply to my long ago request for a meeting with my boss to ask for a pay increase. I said at the time no reply would be reply enough. Other things have also happened but as it's work and i know someone from there comes on here i don't want to say too much more.

My self-esteem has never been good (upbringing) and overall i have been very unhappy and hiding away when i can. Today, i've taken the tentative step of working on my CV a little bit, to apply for a job i won't get - i don't have the necessary experience. I look for a new job every day but haven't seen anything i can apply for. The jobs i've seen which i'd like have been part-time or 3 - 6 months fixed term - which is too short a time for me due to having the mortgage and bills to pay.

I am going to try and continue posting - but realise no-one wants to read my unhappy ramblings. So, now i've explained a bit i'll just try and post positive things.

    Health

I am having some tests done soon and then a follow-up appointment at the docs should hopefully see an improvement in my health.

    Home

Today I will aim to periodically tidy things away from the kitchen. This will see an improvement. I still very much want to move house.

    Finances

Be brave and start to earn extra income.

    Work

Go in, work positively and leave on time. Remember, this will not be forever.

    Family

Focus on those I care about and really, really put the unpleasant family stuff out of my mind.

I shall try and pop back later and catch up with your news as well.

I didn’t want to read and go. I too struggle to keep on top of the house. I’ve been sorting out a cupboard a week. I’ve found the doing it better than the thought of doing it. Small steps and still got the cupboard of doom to go. Feel better having done the wee bit I have even if it’s taken weeks.

Take care of your self. Xx

    Hi Stripey

Thank you for sharing with us. You have been missed but accept that sometimes, time away to get your head on straight is needed. And I cannot speak for everyone, but I do not feel we need to only read positive ramblings. Your comments reflect real life. It has its ups and downs and this forum is a place to share what you are willing to share.

The art is to admit what you can control and focus on that. So, tidying the kitchen is something within your gift. Not something I ever want to do, but good on you for prioritising.

Work - you can control how you respond to others when there and if you do more than necessary, or you do what is required. Again, within your gift. Health, hopefully this will improve.

Wider family is yours to deal with in a way that gives you a level of control of your life and your emotions. Just know that certainly I am willing you on positively.

Hope you can come back with details of your wonderful spreadsheets and how you are meeting those targets - assuming this is what you want to do!!

    Tx

Hi Stripey - good to see you back. Hope you find a solution to work soon.

I am beginning to realise with the EF that I need to budget for topping it up regularly as 'emergencies' keep happening - so share your pain.

Families are definitely a mixed blessing.

With decluttering - perhaps set a time and do 15 minutes a day. It's better than nothing.

    Have a lovely week

  • Hello all

Qtipps thank you for stopping by it is appreciated.

Tahlullah and savings thanks also for your support.

I keep thinking at some point things will turn around / start to go right. Unfortunately, illness means i have so little energy that i can't just seem to get on and do things - obviously also made easier when mood is more buoyant!

So i thought i'd just pop in and update on life rather than money / home and maybe try and find a balance that way in my diary too.

Me and Mr Socks had a lovely day out together. This cost me about £40, but this covered our train fares there and back, a few drinks and a delicious tea and 2 treats for me - a lovely notepad and a storage box. I've been looking for a box i like for a long time and this is so nice and was heavily reduced too so i was very happy. Lunch was packed lunch and also Mr Socks paid for part of the day too. £40 is more than i'd like to spend really but considering everything i / we got for that i think it's possibly not so bad. It would be helped if i didn't like expensive drinks :o:beer: We also walked miles and had good quality time together. I had a wobble before we went thinking of the expense but i actually had a very enjoyable (though tiring) day.

For over a year i've wanted a new bag - i've looked many times for one i'd like - i have a bad back and struggle to carry any weight for any length of time. Anyways, i've been watching one in the sales and they sold out! Argh! I'd been waiting for it to go down in price a bit more :o They had another in a different pattern but the colour is actually more practical, it was cheaper, i went through cashback and also got an extra % discount so in the end it was about half price and ticks all the boxes of what i've been looking for. Just awaiting delivery now. It was a very considered spend though and i did get some money for Christmas.

Next month continues with plans and expenses. We're going away for the weekend for Mr Socks birthday so I have funds put by for that. And i'll hopefully be able to use my new bag if it arrives :D It should be a fun weekend :)

Thank you all for the encouragement on getting organised / decluttered. I aim to move 1 bag today and I'll see if i have time for another one tomorrow.

Ok, i have Sunday tea to prep for, hope you all have a good Sunday x

Finally caught up with your diary. Hadn't read since August when I last commented. Shame on me!

So sorry everything has been a bit of a roller coaster for you. Just remember little progress is still progress.
