Looks like it might be trading standards that you want, I'd start there ....

First stop trading standards. I'm pleased that you haven't been conned. Now go get 'em ~ stop the bstard doing it to someone else.
  • Went to trading standards are they were not surprised and not hopeful either. We got everything photocopied and sent away the cancelation request to back up the e-mail request sent last night. My hubby got through to someone on the phone to try to cancel that way too and was told he was too late, the 7 day deadline had passed and we were locked in to a sales contract. The salesman was out on Wednesday evening,21st November but has forged the documents and put the wrong date on there,19th November so thats why we have been told we can,t cancel.
Theres no date visible on any paperwork we have,I will have to see if the town centra mall management will keep the cctv of wednesday as proof of the initial contact being on the 21st incase theres a fraud case.
    What a bloomin nightmare!!!
Any advice greatly appreciated, looks like we will need to go and get legal advice too.

  • I'm in shock:eek: I can't believe that they can get away with this type of thing.
    Why are people so dishonest.
I had a meter reader around, obviously wanted me to switch, said he was there because discounts due to me hadn't been paid, was a really bad actor, when I said "that's not why you're here, you want me to switch" his false look of surprise was bordering on hilarious.
If these people came around with a decent, straightforward, honest deal I'm sure they'd get more custom.
    Good Luck

  • Thanks.Just so worked up that I messed up the dates, the cheque I gave the salesman is dated 20th too and it was the salesman I asked for the date so he has no excuse for writing down 19th on his own version of the forms etc.
They will get the cancellation form today so we are just waiting to see what happens next.

Thanks for posting this. I've just had 2 calls from Weatherseal saying that we've won free doors/windows etc. I'd read your post so told them to 'take a hike' which was met with a very big huff from the caller!
I really hope you get everything sorted without too much stress.

Have to say mum called me about this today & I pointed her to this thread - she was going to read it & when they phoned back with a reference number tell them to cancel the appointment for this evening!

I am so glad you shared your story with us shelovestobuy, I hope you had some resolution to your problems with Weatherseal!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

Guess what? I had a phone call today, 'you've been selected for free windows, doors and a conservatory'!!! Straight away I thought there was something not right. Same story, they want to use our house for their brochure so we can have everything done for free. We do need new windows but not this way. I said I would have to discuss it with oh first and she's phoning me back tomorrow.
I did a search and found this thread and I am VERY glad I found it! Thanks shelovestobuystuff for all your info. :D Now I know exactly what to say to her when she phones back tomorrow! ;)
