  • I entered the latest comp and was sure I had ticked the don't contact me box, but i've been getting the same infuriating calls 3/4 times a day, they really are pushy too, glad i've seen this though i will tell them in no uncertain terms to go forth..

I've found telling these companies that you are signed up to the TPS (Telephone Preference Service)is quite effective at getting rid of them

Sorry for peeps who've been involved with this company
    very interesting posts ! :T
We also entered the comp to win free windows, fascias or doors
We got a phonecall to ask which of these we would prefer ..........
    IF we won the comp!
It's nothing but a scam in our opinion .... to get your details and plague you with hard sell tactics and phone calls
We were told we would be visited by a representative for a quote for windows and fascias .......which would be honoured for 18 months from the date of the quote...... if we didn't win the competition
We were genuinely interested in getting the windows and fascias renewedso.......
We agreed to have a salesman visit and quote a price
To cut a very long story short......
we had the hours of sales speak etc and were told the new windows would cost £12,000 !
But if we agreed to sign the paperwork and make the order at the time the salesmen were at our home ,
they would only charge us £7,500 !
Whilst we were thinking about all that had been said
they told us they could take off another £500 and do it for £7000 !
We were then told that if we gave them a cheque for a deposit ........it would mean we could have the windows "at the on the night price. if we did decide to have them ........"
but that they wouldn't do anything with the cheque and that we wouldn't be agreeing to anything until we confirmed with them that we wanted the work done ! .....
They were "just doing us a favour in taking the cheque off us on the night...to enable us to get the reduced price if we decided to go ahead with the order !"
The next day we told the salesman that we had decided not to have the work done !
Since then we have had constant phone calls........
been told they will do it for less than £6000!..........
Then we were asked how much we would have to be quoted in order to agree to have the work done ????
We have consistently said we don't want the work done
    .......
Then we found that they had cashed our cheque!!
They also say we will have to sign cancellation paperwork,
which will be brought to the house by an inspector from the company,
because they have already ordered the windows etc to be made to measure for our house!
Now we just don't answer the phones ( home and mobile )
and need to sort out getting our £ back and stopping them from constantly phoning us !
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone else ?

  • The problem with their sales tactics is that they can say what they like but in the end all you have on is whats in writing, you have no proof, nothing in writing that they said they were going to hold the cheque and wait for further confirmation of the order. Its a nightmare.I am sorry for your predicament. We have been through it too.
I am very worried about the situation with the company inspector calling with the cancellation paperwork.Have you actually had a weatherseal surveyor out yet to measure up the windows properly for manufacture, If not then I would be very worried that this is just a ploy by weatherseal to get a surveyor into your home, under the guise of a 'company inspector' to take measurements. What is he going to inspect???
Theres no need for anyone from the company to set foot inside your home.Any papaerwork can be posted.make sure you get the cancelation section sent to them recorded delivery asap.Dont send back the whole sheet as it says on the back but just cut out the little square cancellation bit to return.

These people are absolute cowboys, I don't know why they have been getting away with it for so long. In our first house a few years ago we were contacted by safestyle and as we saw them on tv we thought they were probably ok.

The guy came to price up and for

    1 front door
    1 patio door
    4 windows

He though tit would be £12,000!!!! He knew we were not having any of it, so mentioned about paying monthly, he said not to worry reading all the T's & C's and when he had gone I read through it all and for the above mentioned the total cost would be wait for it....£22,000!!!!!! What an absloute con!!!!

Of course we told them where to stick it, sfter loads of phonecalls, and the sales guy on teh phone tellign me it would cost less than a loaf of Warburtons every day (where do they get this stuff from?!!!! lol) the price decreased dramatically - we were given the usual - if you are in our brochure, we have some competition money left in our budget, if you display our signs - he really tried everything on!!

We went wiith a local independant company who did the whole lot for £3400.

It makes me mad seeing these companies advertising especially safestyle with their "buy one get one free" which is a total joke as they have inflated their prices heavily to give you this "offer"

I feel sorry for people who fall for it, and also for others with more money than sense that pay it!!!!

Just had a call, was in a foul enough mood anyway so they got it big style, I said you must be ...... joking, Ive just read about you cowboys on the internet, dont ever call this number again.... How do these people sleep at night? has to be classified as a con at the minimum, and should be answerable by law. Sorry to hear about the trouble you find yourself in, and hope it all works out. (with the excellent people on this site, its a cert)

    Hi shelovestobuystuff
    I agree
    'Its a nightmare'
We sent back the cancelation section to them recorded delivery the day after the salesman was here
Have they taken £ off you?

No we were very lucky. We did enough checking after the salesman left to start to feel uneasy about the whole thing and I phoned my bank to cancel the cheque. The cheque was supposed to be for processing fees for out free windows but it was for £70 which in hindsight would have been about the amount payable as the 10% deposit on the order.Looks like the salesman was trying to set it up so that we couldnt get out of it easily once we discovered we were being taken for a ride. All I have lost in the end is £7.50 which it cost me to cancel the cheque along with my trust in people.
