  • OK guys, please help me out here as I'm clueless about sites etc but;

    So far typing in CCCS brings up;

    c-c-c-s.com and their consumer credit license number is - 585858

    Typing in National debtline brings up;

    national-uk-debtline.co.uk - license number - 585858 :rolleyes:

    How many more do they have? Then there are all the rest! :eek:

    I've now got 5 associated with license 585858

    c-c-c-s.com
    national-uk-debtline.co.uk
    debt-management-online.co.uk
    Individual-voluntary-arrangement.eu
    debtfreeme.info

    It's the first 2 that concern me the most because the domain name is and clearly has "mislead" a number of well meaning organisations (just google the free phone number as per earlier post)

    Does anyone know how you can check a CCA licence number? 585858 just doesn't sound real to me, but then I'm just an old cynic

    I must be old aswell! :think:
  • From another site

    "[SIZE=-1]To verify our Consumer Credit License please call 0207 211 8608. When answered, you need to select option 1"

    Googling the phone number shows that it is the OFT.

  • Grrrrrr

    Thought i would try "debt counsellors" in google.

    http://www.cheshire.gov.uk/socialcareandhealth/general_advice/carelines.htm

    This lists Debt Counsellors as one of the sources of help

    "©2006 The Debt Counsellors™, a wholly owned subsidiary of Debts.co.uk plc"

    Oooo free help from a company that will give you advise or

    "If you're a homeowner and looking for a secured loan, our sister company Scarlet Money will be pleased to help. Just fill in the form below and one of our loan team will get straight back to you. Remember ALL our advice is FREE and you are under NO OBLIGATION whatsoever."

    Wonder how many get referred?

    Do I take it from the "Ouch" that you did a search on the free phone number?

    There's always this one if we get desperate...:money:
  • Yes.

    Seems they previously were also [SIZE=-1]www.iva-site.co.uk (if you drop the space between the last two parts of the phone number you get hundreds more hits).

    I'll add that one to my list. I've now got 7 all with a direct link:rolleyes:

    You need to be careful on the free phone number check. Splitting the last 7 digits with a space produced hundreds of entries, but the same thing between quotes to produce a string match gave far far less.

    Anyway, it wasn't so much the quantity of entries, but the fact that the list included Housing Association and Local community group websites and hence the most vunerable members of society that made me :mad:
