Be careful when you google cccs

I just googled cccs, and at the top of the list (sponsored Link) was a website for www.c-c-c-s.com where the cccs stands for Credit Card Consolidation Services. How devious of them.

Make sure you refer to the correct www.cccs.co.uk

See the link: Debt charity demands watchdogs stop the imposters

If you think it's misleading then add weight to CCCS's argument by complaining to CCCS and the OFT

Well it may be a time for the courts. First place I'd start would be Google...

This has been making me sick for months now. Google will do nothing, they never even replied to my email about it. I wonder how much they pay for the adwords?

I might change my sig to try and raise awareness.

hmmmm so I tried to find the cost with my adwords account but it wouldn't let me without paying.

So then I had a sick idea...

    Bear with me...

It costs the company every time someone clicks on that adword link.

It would cost them a fortune if people clicked it for no reason over and over again. Their budget wouldn't stretch that far.

    Catch my drift?

So basically they have to pay Google a fee everytime someone comes through to their site via Google?

Is that right or am I confused?

Southernscouser, you caught my drift entirely!

As long as you use the 'sponsered' link ;)

This is the corrected link. :)

We spotted the non-charitable company on the bankruptcy board months ago, & though we make sure we give out the correct link, I wouldn't be surprised if some people just Google cccs & end up contacting the wrong company. A similar thing happens with software - if you take a look at the Techies board, some of us have had trouble with eXiSoftware using an established legitimate company's name to flog suspect Microsoft products. :(

I like the idea. I really do. But 2 things concern me.

Firstly Google aren't going to want to get rid of a link that is earning them money.

Secondly this company's link will still be there for vunerable people to click.

And thirdly, whats to say this company just don't end up taking a larger proportion of peoples money each month?

  • I wonder if "MSE Towers" would be interested in this one?
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
