I've just gone back on the checker and it is a letter of authority that you sign at the end of the form for them to do the check. I don't know what this additional email is that has been sent, but it says...

"Your free ppi Check is almost ready.
Why have you duplicated your concerns on another thread ?

It would surely have been wiser to keep to one thread?

If your Mother has signed a Letter Of Authority to proceed, it may be too late to stop the check going ahead. However, you should still be able to cancel their services before they do anything chargeable-that's assuming they advertise a "free" PPI check.

All this may be a storm in a teacup anyhow, as it's perfectly possible your Mother didn't even have PPI.
