Kuna for Dubrovnik trip

Options
Morning, my wife and I will be travelling to Dubrovnik soon for a 4 day trip away.

Is it best to convert cash at the post office or am I better off converting it while we are over there ?

Many thanks

Shouldn't need much cash for four days, as credit cards widely accepted. Suggest you just change small amounts of sterling locally as, when and if required.

The Post Office is one of the most expensive places to obtain foreign currency.

The cheapest and most convenient way is to use a fee-free card to pay for things in the local currency, and/or withdraw any necessary cash from an ATM.

If you don't have such a card, sign up now for a Starling Bank account on their phone app, also Monzo as backup, and the cards will be with you in a couple of days.

Get yourself to a Metro Bank; https://www.metrobankonline.co.uk/store-locator/ and pick up one of their debit cards on the spot.
Using this method, you can get a rate of 8.1987 today for ATM withdrawals and purchases abroad.

Compare that to what the Post Office will offer. :)

Post Office if you exchange over £400; £1 GBP = 7.7583 HRK (Online only)
    Between £500 &£1000; £1 GBP = 7.7911 HRK (Online only)
    £1000 & over; £1 GBP = 7.7993 HRK (Online only)

So even if you have no time to get one of the cards suggested above and you only have a standard Mastercard debit card that charges up to 3% in forex charges, you would still get a rate of 7.95277 today.

So what is the point of going to the Post Office for currency? None.
