Readers, I finally have good news! The Annoying Coworker is no longer my annoying coworker
Her last day was Monday. I won’t go into detail because it’s a very long and ridiculous story but will just say that she was fired. Yippee!
Work is starting to wind down for the end of the year. I haven’t been able to focus on my assignments due to all the drama but should be able to now. Such a weight has been lifted off and I feel like a brand new human4 -

Alright peeps, strap yourself in for a long post.
Work has been busy since The Annoying Coworker left. I've been doing all of her work as well as my own, plus trying to figure out all manner of mistakes and stuff that has been missed. My boss found a folder in her desk that was full of random documents and stuff that I guess she just...did not feel like doing. I discovered that there was a part of our checklist that she has not been completing for over a year for every single client. So who knows how many more mistakes I will be discovering in the future. The good thing that has come of this is that my boss is finally admitting that this is his fault and he should have paid more attention to what was going on. We will not be getting a new staff member for the foreseeable future. He is hoping to outsource some of our admin work to one one of the other offices within the company. This is fine by me as I prefer to be on my own anyway and I really don't have it in me to train a new person. There's really not enough work for two full time people, I can do most of it on my own and it's easier that way.
Now for an announcement! I am moving in with the boyfriend over the next few weeks. It's not what I had originally planned, but what can I say, we don't like being apart, we spend all of our spare time together and having two different houses is just not practical for us anymore. The stress of trying to manage two houses, pets in said houses, housework, washing, groceries, etc has pretty much driven us both to insanity. We talked about it and figured that it needs to happen now otherwise we'll have missed our chance to have the time to do it. Now that the Annoying Coworker is gone, I probably won't be able to take much time off during the middle of the year, it will be xmas holidays only for me.
So I'm going to spend my time off over Christmas packing and getting my unit ready to be rented out. I must admit that this is a huge relief for me. Although I love my little home (and have just spent some major $$ renovating it) it's just no longer suitable for my life anymore. And I've never really complained too much about it on here, but my neighbours are annoying as all hell and I'll be glad to get away from them. By keeping it and renting it out, I will still get to retain a place that I own, and BF owns his house, so I think that's pretty fair. I've done some research and calculations and I believe the rent will cover most if not all of the expenses. The expenses will make for a nice tax deduction for against my income. I won't be trying to pay the mortgage off early but utilising the offset account and paying a bit more than the minimums will help it to be paid down faster.
BF and I have talked about who will pay for what, and it has been decided that he will continue fully paying for all stuff to do with his house (mortgage, electricity, water, internet, council rates, etc) and I will pay for everything to do with my place including paying off the kitchen loan as quickly as possible. We will each pay for our own personal stuff like phones, clothes, etc. and take turns paying for groceries and takeaway (he pays more often because he makes more money). BF is going to pay for a lot of new appliances and furniture for his place to make it nicer for us to live here as we'll probably be here for 2-3years and currently everything is second hand and not very nice. I'm usually not one who likes the idea of "separate" finances (it's actually a pet peeve of mine) but I think this is the most fair and practical solution at this stage until we can buy a house together. BF makes more than twice as much as me and has no debt 'cept the mortgage, so he is going to start saving for the next house and then I will join him once my kitchen loan has been paid off
I must admit that neither of us have been paying much attention to money lately. 2020 and all of its shenanigans has really made us both lose our focus. We will wait til we've made it through Christmas and then re-evaluate. We've both been buying random crap lately to try and soothe our souls from the stress that the end of the year always brings, as well as eating absolute rubbish and just being depressed in general. December is a hard time as both of our families are fraught with dysfunction and Christmas really exacerbates the issue. But never mind. We have one more week of work left and then we get to go for our holiday at the beach.
I still have an assignment to finish, and I really want to get it done ASAP so I can enjoy my holiday and not have to think about it. I don't have much left to do on it so hopefully my brain will kick into gear soon and i'll be able to get it sorted.
Anyway, I hope you're all having a lovely weekend. It's raining here, yay!

Ooh, this is exciting! I hope you'll be happy together.
It's good that your boss finally sees the truth of what's been going on. Could your former co-worker (the nicer one) perhaps do a few hours to help bridge the gap?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hi Cherry! Haha, no, the bridge between my boss and the decent (ex)coworker has been well and truly burned. I don’t think he’d be able to convince her to come back for a million dollars 😂 And besides that, she can’t do the work that we need anyway.2

I’m having a good Tuesday so far
I’ve just submitted my assignments. Crossing my fingers that I pass and don’t have to re-submit. Things got a bit slap-dash towards the end, I didn’t understand the questions very well so I just did my best to put something together.I am loving it sick working without The Annoying Coworker. Although I keep finding mistakes which annoys me greatly but never mind. Better than copping attitude every day.3.5 days of work left until Christmas holidays! Yay!2 -
Two days left of work!! But who’s counting? (I am). It’s technically only 1.5 days because tomorrow is a half day.I’ve been working super hard to get all of the work done in time so my boss better not pile anything extra onto me at the last minute. Speaking of the boss, he gave me $300 in gift cards for Christmas
. I think I’ve been given the ones that should have gone to the two fired coworkers which I find hilarious. I think I deserve it considering I’ve been doing the work of 3 people
Some of my packages seem to be stuck in the mail, according to the tracking none of them have moved since Wednesday last week. Luckily they are presents for myself (ha!) and not other people. This is one of the most un-Christmas like Christmases I’ve had in a long time. It really doesn’t feel like Christmas at all. We have no Christmas tree as there’s no point as we will
be away on actual Christmas Day. Also the BF refuses to let me buy him presents because of some bizarre unresolved childhood trauma. He hates giftsSo I have been respectful of his wishes and bought gifts for myself instead.
I have given up on tracking money for the year and will start again in January. I just can’t be bothered at the moment and to be honest, I just don’t have the energy to care.Hope you all have a nice Thursday3 -
I like your alternative gift giving!
Wow to the $300 - yes, I suppose you might have got the gift cards that might otherwise have gone to the others but as you say, it's you who's been doing the work.
Enjoy your time off - you've earned it!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Happy Friday everyone! Today is my last day of work for the year and then I'm on annual leave for 3 weeks! I don't think I've ever been more excited to have time off in my life. I only have to work until 12 today as we are closing the office early just for the heck of it. I woke up at 4:45am and couldn't go back to sleep so am enjoying some quiet reflection although the cats have not been quiet
I can't believe the turn my life has taken this year (in a good way). I never thought I'd meet someone like the BF who is so supportive and just easy to get along with. Never thought we'd be moving in together this fast, but isn't that just the way life goes. I haven't stayed at my place overnight for a few weeks now, I just pop in every day or so to check on things and feed the fish, and yesterday when I went over there I discovered that my neighbours have messed with my garden stuff again and moved it around without my permission. This really cemented my decision to move out. I will miss that place but won't miss not having any privacy or autonomy over my own stuff3
