  • Spring in Australia is beautiful but not good for sinuses. I have been sneezing my head off!

Today is Friday and I am having another nice day at work with no Annoying Coworkers to Annoy me. I have lots to do but am finding it hard to be productive as I am a bit over it all this week. Am just tired and ready for the weekend. Nevertheless I will keep going and at least get my most essential tasks done.

This will be the first weekend in who knows how long that I will refuse to do any home improvement related tasks. I will do the usual cleaning and washing but that’s it. There’s still lots to do but I am giving myself a break. BF and I are trying to come up with something interesting to do but there’s not much on at the moment. He woke up this morning with a bad cold so probably won’t feel like doing anything tomorrow anyway.

The weather has turned on its shenanigans and has just become what can only be described as Windy As All Hell. I am not impressed.
  • I had a productive Saturday cleaning the house. BF was too sick so he stayed at his place for the day. The weather was dreadful. So cold and windy. I did two loads of washing, vacuumed and mopped the floors,
deep cleaned the bathroom and wiped dust off various surfaces. I also 30 mins of exercise and managed to stay within my calorie limit for the day. :)
  • Sorry for the short hiatus! I have been busy, once again.
Another subject finished so only 2 more to go now! :) yay!
I've had the last two days off work. I am technically supposed to be studying but I already did my exam (and passed!) on Saturday so am doing some housework instead and will do some reading for new new subject this afternoon.

I have just ordered a new TV and an office chair so now my bank account is well and truly murdered!  :# I feel completely and utterly guilty but am sick of living in this horribly disorganised apartment with a fancy kitchen but the rest of the place in disarray. I had to do lot of re-arranging of stuff to get the kitchen renovation done and it's still not sorted out. (Small apartment, no proper storage, no room to swing a cat, etc!) Everything is a mess and I can't move X thing until I've fixed Y thing and each thing affects the next. Example: I need the linen cupboard finished so I can move the fish tank so I have room for the TV and then can finally put the couch where it belongs, and then I can finally get the electrician in to add extra power points and change the light fixtures.

I have been laying awake at night worrying about how I will get it all done and how much it will cost. As much as I hate to admit it, the only thing that will fix it is to spend the money and get it all put together. Laying there worrying about it will not make it any better or tidier! I have to remember that at the end of the day, my bills are paid and I still have more of an emergency fund than a lot of people have and I will be okay. Hence I have ordered the TV and will get BF to help me move the fish tank and sort out the linen cupboard over the weekend. At least then the living room will be set up and we can watch TV at night instead of having to go and sit in bed on our laptops. I actually feel a sense of relief having made the first steps to getting it all sorted even though it cost a lot as I had been procrastinating like no one's business.

I have done up a new budget and have re-jigged all of my sinking funds. I have officially taken $4,500 out of my "Emergency" Fund so I will pay that back gradually to get it back to $10,000. (Have calculated it will take me approximately 7 months, assuming nothing goes wrong in in the meantime! Yikes! But oh well o:) )

That sounds so like my battle with clearing my parents' house! It's so rewarding to get to the end of a stage though, and the kitchen will inspire you to keep on keeping on. And you haven't really murdered your bank account - you've still got a healthy amount set aside for emergencies and plans to replace what you've used. :)

Well done on passing your exam!

  • Forgot to mention that my hot water heater exploded two weeks ago so I had to pay $1,800 to replace it! Which is why my bank account is so significantly murdered. The water demon strikes again. When will it end!?

Oh no! That's drastic! I suppose any change to a system risks putting other elements under strain (though it might have just blown up to spite you by the sound of it).
I hope that's the last of the expenses for a good long while.

  • Thanks Cherry.  The plumber did warn me that it might happen as it was was fairly old. Fingers crossed no more water related incidents.
  • Happy Sunday everyone! A very naughty cat woke me up at 5:something this morning and needless to say, I am Not Impressed. I am feeling lazy as all hell and don’t want to do anything. Fingers crossed I will find some motivation later in the day. I need to go grocery shopping and work on some home improvement things, which involves going to the hardware store :( I am so sick of going there. Wish someone would take me out for breakfast instead (ha!).

In happy news, the BF and I have booked a holiday over Christmas. We are going to the BEACH. I am deadset excited as have never been on a nice holiday in my adult life. Holidays have always been filled with family drama and shenanigans. It will be just the two of us and we will be avoiding family drama AT ALL COSTS.

Yay - beach! I bet you have a fabulous time! Aussie Christmas on the beach is a thing of wonder here where it may well be cold, grey and rainy though we hope every year that it will be a 'white Christmas'.
I don't know if the clocks change tonight - I mean today! - for you? Ours go back an hour, British Summer Time to Greenwich Mean Time. The whole country is united in rejoicing for a few hours as we get another hour in bed. :)

  • Hi Cherry! No daylight savings in my neck of the woods but other states have already had it for a few weeks. Confuses me to no end!
