I'm exhausted and so thankful that the week is over. My boss is pushing me really hard to churn out a lot of work, he has passed a lot of his work onto The Somewhat Decent Coworker and now she has to hand some stuff over to me. But it will take me a while to lean her more difficult tasks (I estimate I'd need a good 3 months of practice before I can do it all on my own). To give you some context, she has about 10 years' more experience than I do and has twice the amount of qualifications. And besides that, it was never the plan for me to take over everything! I was supposed to learn some of her stuff just for the sake of learning and take a bit of the pressure off, not starting doing everything! My boss is expecting that I'll be able to do it all myself after next week. Talk about unrealistic. I don't mind learning but I actually don't have time to take on many more tasks at the moment. Not sure what kind of weird plan my boss is cooking up but it can't be good. My coworker is taking a week off the week after next, and I think he's expecting me to do both of our jobs for that entire week. Delusional.
Today The Annoying Coworker boasted that at her old work there was an audit system on the computer that you could use to figure out who wasn't doing their job properly. She does not realise that we have the same thing and I use it all the time to dob her in for her dumb@ss mistakes. Interesting.
I am so tired that I have taken myself to bed at 7pm
The government has closed the schools as of next week. My boss is still planning to see clients in person next week and the week after, and forever after that. Some of our clients are 90+ years old. Readers, he is a deadset moron. I am disgusted.
Anyways, on a more positive note, today I am thankful for:- Still being employed
- A nice dinner
- The block of chocolate that I just demolished.
- The fact that it's the weekend
- My moronic coworkers and their highly entertaining antics

Hi Chrystal! I am fine, really
This is pretty standard stuff for my life/workplace. Unfortunately. Haha.2 -
Hi Velvet, sorry to hear you have had a stressful time. I have no idea why your boss wants to totally shut instead of work from home. There would be at least some productivity!
Congrats on getting your modules done. How is this one going?1 -
Your boss is absolutely going to have to rethink about seeing older clients - or anyone face to face. If he tries it, he's putting not just himself and them but all of you and all your contacts at risk. Simple as.
Sorry.
It was quite funny about your useless co-worker not realising about the computer programme though.
Hope this coming week goes better.

Interesting times in Velvet's world. My boss had closed door chats with all 3 of us yesterday
He is cutting the other two staff members' hours (by how much I am not sure). Mine are staying the same but I won't get my yearly bonus this year. And I get to double my workload for the foreseeable future. I am feeling a combination of thankful to still have a job but also really mad and am having some pretty bad survivors guilt.
I am just disgusted with my boss as he is using this situation to his own advantage. He told me a bunch of rubbish about how his revenue has dropped and how he has to do something about this now as he's been through it before in the GFC. I think he made up numbers and percentages because they didn't make any sense whatsoever.
I don't feel bad for The Annoying Coworker as she deserves it but The Somewhat Decent Coworker has worked for him for 10 years and she doesn't deserve this treatment. It's not surprising though as he's been trying to push her out for ages. She was upset yesterday and I know she would have spent all of last night feeling really awful.
He tried to butter me up by saying that I'm the "future of this business" and he has to take everyone's bonuses away to "make it look fair on paper". Pretty much making out that I am soo amazing and that's why I get to keep my hours. Such a load of crap. I know he'd be cutting my hours too if he could get away with it, but he can't. I'm not so delusional to think that he actually gives a damn about me. If he really thought I was that great, he wouldn't cut my pay and double my workload

Sorry to hear that Velvet, once this is all over I hope you can find a much better job with a much better boss! You can only do what you can do, so if I were you I wouldn't be putting myself out too much to complete that huge workload - you're only one person after all.
Also, I firmly believe that what goes around, comes around so it will bite him in the bum one day.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.2 -
Tough times, I'm sorry to hear about it.
Especially for your half way decent co-worker, and for you doing so much more work and not getting a bonus you'd expected. The one who was dossing about wasn't earning her way in the first place, by the sound of it but you two deserve better.
It's to be hoped when we come out the other side of this that all your extra experience will net you a job with a better employer.
Are you managing to keep in touch with friends outside work?

Mind you, in the current circumstances, probably not much that you can do about it. Hopefully you can take your skills somewhere else where they'll be better valued in due course!
