How long for RBS card reader?

There seems to be a problem transferring money out of the newly opened RBS accounts & so you need a card reader. Fair enough i suppose.

Ordered a card reader for 4 people (ordered through each account) on Sunday 30th June.

Still waiting on them for all 4 people at 2 different addresses. How long do these things take to arrive?

You can transfer up to £750 via app with no card reader needed - is that an option?

Ah so you can do it via an app but not online?

Not really fussy how it's done. I'll take a look.

My nearest branch is about 30-40 miles away.

Do you have another card reader for a different bank? If so try it, sometimes they are universal.

As the above poster says, other card readers will work with it.

Barclays and nationwide are two that I know of.

The problem the OP may have as happened to me when I tried to change the address on my recently opened NatWest account is that despite saying "No thanks" to ordering a card reader because I had one, they wouldn't let me access the page because they didn't think I had a card reader.

It may be different for transfers but I had to just give in and accept a completely unnecessary card reader just to satisfy them and it took a few weeks to arrive.

Barclays, NAT West and Nationwide card readers are all interchangeable. Try one of them, or ask to borrow one from a friend or neighbour

I was told by RBS that if I waited 2 days after ordering a card reader, I would then be able to use pretty much any other card reader that I had. I did and it worked just fine.

That occurred to me but thankfully I managed to phone them up and change address.

It's still ridiculously wasteful to not let people say "I have a card reader" and let them get on with their business.
