EE refusing new Ofcom rules

Help please
On Monday I cancelled 2 SIM only deals that are months out of contract and we no longer use. EE told me I had to give 30 days notice to cancel.
I read today the notice from Martin that the new Ofcom rules that came in on Monday are if I am out of contract then providers are banned from charging the 30 days notice.
I called EE back today and advised them of this information and they stated this is not true and I am contracted to EE and the terms of my contract are that I have to give 30 days notice. Furthermore, because all phone contracts are paid the first month in advance, there is no further money to be taken from me so therefore is no concern to me. I advised I would make a complaint to Ofcom, and they still refused.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Thank you so much! Very frustrating the same rules do not apply to cancellations if you are out of contract.
Thanks for the link, I searched Ofcom but couldn't find this page.
Very much appreciated.0 -
I'd suggest a switch to the cheapest 30 day SIM contract around but ONLY if it's cheaper than your current contract cost.Ex forum ambassador

This part is also wrong. You will get a bill after disconnection and any use outside your pro-rata bundle will be charged in addition (part days of the contract period after the end of the 30 days into the new bundle month will also be refunadable.)
Some people misguidedly cancel the direct debit before the final bill and if there are charges end up in debt with a ruined credit file for the next six years. They also don't seem top notice sometimes for until months - or even years - later. HUGE mistake repeated often, it seems.0 -

iD also offer a £3.99/month 30 day SIM.

Go to eBay and buy a payg sim with credit included.
Switch to new provider.
After the switch, use the credit to enter competition or donate to charity.0 -

You are aware that you'll lose both phone numbers if you cancel I presume?0 -
