Buying white goods from seller - are they ripping me off?

My last vendors said no to our very large American style fridge freezer. tbh I was amazed. Don't think I was asking more than £100 or so. Maybe even less.
Wouldn't have crossed my mind to just leave it so sold it before completion. Wondering now if they thought we may just leave it for them! I'd be more worried about them being peed off at me for leaving it behind!
I would probably go back with a counter offer, but wouldn't be offering on the blinds. As others have said, what possible use could they have to anyone else? I've always ticked the box saying I'll just leave things like that. I would add a note next the blinds saying words to the effect of 'if they're there, they're there, but not looking to buy - thanks.'2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
We were FTB and also had stuff the vendor's wanted to sell to us (Cooker, fridge freezer, blinds, bar stools, washing machine quite pricey too). We said no and when we finally got the keys 4 of the 5 items they wanted to sell to us had been left anyway.
I would wing it and say no to the items, then if they leave it win win for you, if they do take everything then go on gumtree like others have suggested. There are definitely cheaper options. No need to buy brand new if your budget doesn't allow it.Bought First Home - June 2018 Starting £218,500 June 2020 £203,800.95 :T MFW 2020 #78 - Target £3000 - So far... £2182/£3000

Surely made to measure blinds will be of no use to them in another property???? do you LIKE the blinds?
They're okay--I would prefer to keep them as it would save us the time, trouble and expense of sorting it ourselves. I would expect the sellers to leave them though tbh, as they're made to measure, in the same way I wouldn't expect to pay for the carpet! It's0 -
I do think that sounds expensive. When I moved I offered my white goods for lower prices and the cooker for free as it was rather old. He bought them.
Also wouldn't have considered leaving them - would have paid to have them removed if he didn't want them! Would have seemed rude to me but I have been told I'm too polite/honest for my own good (lol)
Asking for money for M2M blinds though - think that's bit much.
As as for someone being asked to pay for a TV ariel - well that's just odd!0 -
Offer £150 for the white goods and £50 for the curtains.
£150 each or altogether?
We ended up offering £400 all in, is that reasonable?
I've since been told that each appliance is approx 2 and a half years old and that none are under warranty. I also, following advice on here, requested the model numbers. I looked them up and I think the dishwasher was about 300 new, the washing machine 250 and the F/F 400.
As I'm typing this I've just received a response--they will sell the dishwasher, washing machine and blinds for 400, but will take the fridge freezer with them.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think I might just take the blinds, for convenience, and leave the rest.0 -
I'd do the same OP
They're a bit greedy by the sound of it - those are not top end appliances but hopefully buying the blinds will keep a bit of goodwill going.0 -
We're in the process of selling our house (fingers crossed) and we've offered our fridge, freezer, washer/dryer and cooker to our (FT) buyers free of charge (they've accepted). All are clean and in working order (though hardly brand new). We're leaving all the curtains and blinds too. Again, not brand new but good quality, clean and in working order. It wouldn't have crossed our minds to ask for payment- after all, things never fit in new houses, moving white goods is generally a pain, and whilst I expect our buyers (if sale goes through) will want to replace things in time, it's so useful to have bits to be getting along with.0
