GF, here a simple rule. If you see a financial ad on Facebook, where I guess you saw this, it's a scam.
You may miss some genuine opportunities but they will be be available elsewhere, but importantly you'll miss a raft of scams.
You might also want to consider why you use a platform that abuses its customers with such blatant scams0 -

So in a way when I joined in 2007 does not mean I am 'seasoned' in the way, I think you imply, it just means I am 12 years older and wiser but not in the world of investments.
I am 74 and really my savings are only in risk free i.e. ISA's. (Only state pension and NO inheritance issues.)
I do, however, if I have looked e.g. Martin's Tips for ISA's could come onto the forum and look to see if others are considering the same.
Finally, thank you all again for explaining to me about Bitcom. So I am much wiser in that field now which was the reason I asked the question in the first place.
I guess you were probably a bit surprised by what may have seemed to be over the top, maybe even harsh responses to what seemed to be a straightforward innocent question - I think that its the result of a lot of posts from people obviously promoting scams or just trying to talk up Bitcoin for whatever reasons they may have and most regular posters just getting to the point of "oh no not again" with anything that comes across as "hey is this a good opportunity".
Bitcoin - very very highly speculative wildly changing value, if you put money in there is a possibility in a months time you could double your money, equally likely you wont have any money left.
That is if you find a half decent site to use to buy your coins, figure out having a digital wallet not trusting the site to hold your coin.
The scam advert that you saw doesnt even come close to you buying any bitcoin. It would probably be a safer bet wandering up to a stranger, handing them a bunch of money and a note with your address on it and asking them to invest it for you.
Then there are the websites that say they can get your money back when you have been scammed out of it, which would be like wandering up to the local traveller encampment and handing..........
As for asking questions - I think you really should do on here, there is a wealth of good advice and experience and knowledge on here and no question is stupid if it is genuine.0 -

I do not, never have or will use Facebook in the future - so your guess was incorrect. It was on my laptop.0 -

Thank you all for trying to help 'protect me'. Giving it some more thought it may have been on my Samsung Tablet?? Looking at 'news' items it was a 'page' that 'popped' up there. I am trying to remember ..... but sorry cannot say for definite but at first thought it was my laptop.
However on my laptop I use Webroot SecureAnywhere Endpoint Protection & MalwareBytes Premium.
On my Tablet - I do not carry out transactions of any kind.
So with these programs on my Laptop & Tablet would you use an Ad Blocker?0 -
The fake articles about this scam normally mimic BBC or daily mirror pages so would appear to look like proper news articlesEx forum ambassador

As an AdBlocker I can recommend uBlock Origin. Have been using it for years. It works on my laptop, I do not know if it works on a tablets.0 -

An adblocker should be fine in conjunction with your existing anti-virus / anti-malware software. The two products do different things so they aren't likely to clash with each other in the way that having two separate anti-virus programs might.0
