STILL waiting on contact from VM about the price increase, talk about dragging your heels. Contract is up October 1 anyway, but that's not the point

I’ve not heard anything yet either. No email or letter.

I'd already got rid of the TV part of my package and gone broadband only (100M for £35), but now I'm switching the broadband as well. Going to Plusnet as I can cope with a small drop in speed, and I can get their TV service as a cheap way to get some extra channels plus BT Sport 1.

I have Now TV for entertainment and Sky Sports passes. Due to offers that usually costs around £25 per month, always cancel just before an offer is up.

Also switched mobile provider from VM to Voxi (runs on Vodafone network), cheaper and appears to be much faster for data and has clearer calls. VM would constantly drop from 4G to 3G signal, and sometimes worse.

Can't believe at one point I was giving VM £99 per month, plus just over £12 per month for mobile.

Was paying £25.23 for 200mb bb only. Haven't had the letter yet but called anyway, asked to cancel and they offered me same service for £19 a month for 6 months then £22 for the remaining 6 months.

    Happy with that so accepted.

Mine is going up by £3.50 a month.
I have Fibre BB only, currently pay £29 a month.

Think I'm just gonna leave. Seems TalkTalk are the cheapest at the moment though... wonder if they've gotten better from their data breach a few years ago.

Got my increase by £3.50 a month letter today. Not happy about that.
I have been with them for many years but maybe it's time to change.

Bear in mind that none are free from price increases .
Some are now building a price increase into new contracts . That means no free get out .
As always price up alternatives for what you want .
Max OpenReach fibre is 80 meg depending upon other factors .
FTTP similiar to VM is only slowly rolling out .
  • I went back to VM just for internet as I needed a better service than Openreach, the agreed price for 12 months seems to be only for 3 months as I have logged on to my account and can see they have upped my payment for this month by 5 pounds, it says discounted 12 month price, with 3 month discount, what the heck does that mean? Shouldn't be allowed

  • I'm so grateful for this thread. In the past, I had won a concession of just £7 / month from them, but this time I got them to reduce the fee for broadband only from £44 pm to £29.50 - much more like it. For one year only of course. Mind you, they are only charging £26/month for £54Mb/s (about my actual speed) to new customers for the first year.
  • could somebody either put up an idiots guide or if one already exists a guide to where the guide is on here to set up an independent email account? Mine has been with virgin media for 15 years and I feel a bit trapped by it in terms of cancelling my broadband and tv with them. so may lower priced BB deals around but I need an email address. a one liner wont help a luddite like me unless its a link to something that clearly explains how to shift emails. thanks.

BTW virgin have increased my monthly payment by 40% in a ittle under 12 months. Its borderline theft and not sure how they justify it.

How much?! even new customers seem to be on a good deal at around £26 so these figures are amazingly low.
