After a period of consolidating our accounts, it appears our account numbers are creeping up again, and now stand at 26 between us!!
I blame the latest raft of new Reg Savers (Coventry, Principality and Virgin), plus the addition of Marcus, followed by Al Rayan.
Our total cash holdings (£105K) are currently getting 2.2% overall, which is all about juggling, as there is no NEW money being added to the pot, and we need to keep instant access to some of it for living on!!
Lets hope I don't drop the balls!!!
UGH similar situation here. After a reasonably successful period of 'culling' I find I again have 30+ in my own name:eek:
The total would easily fit in one ISA and one non ISA, but its difficult to jump off the merry go round of regular savers:rotfl:0 -
Not much to report this week.
I've made another couple of small Marketplace sales this week, about £8, so the grand total stands at £83!!!
We had a long anticipated Chinese take-away last night....but when we got it home, we'd been given a wrong dish!! (who ever checks in the bag when you collect it, when they're busy) Couldn't be bothered to ring up, make a fuss, and take it back, as we were hungry and what they'd given us was OK (just not what we'd ordered!) When we checked the menu, the dish they'd given us was 40p cheaper than the one we paid for too....the cheek!!! Anyway, due to all the lovely MSG, I had a raging thirst all night too. (Must have been the new dish, as I don't usually have that problem, with our usual order)
That's it....no more Chinese for us. I love it at the time, and they're usually really good, but this felt like a waste of £15. Rant over!!!
Need to go and "run it all off now". I'm on a mission to NOT gain weight (in the run up to and) over Christmas!!! It's gonna be tough, as I love food, but I love less, feeling like a beached whale in the first two weeks of January! How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
We are friendly with a couple at the gym. They are a bit more serious than us with exercise. Last Christmas I said to him "I have put a bit of weight on over Xmas". I was expecting a "me too", but he looked down his nose and said "not good". After our summer holidays I said "I've put a bit of weight on during my holidays". He replied "if you take some weights and a resistance band you can work out every day on holiday". Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a bit of over indulgence.0

Well that was a soggy run this morning. At least it wasn't too cold and not windy.
I felt good. Chinese food, the fuel of champions!!
Chalk up 800 calories in the "credits" column!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Went to see Le Mans 66 the other day (courtesy of Club Lloyds). Loved it!! Although it was a bit loud...when racing cars sounded like racing cars!! Cheeky Pizza for tea.
The figures are all ticking along...all quite flat at the moment it would seem, although compared to this time last year (the brief slump), they seem amazing (still down on the July 19 peak though)
We don't really DO Christmas, so the few bits we do buy, are all bought and wrapped already. We just need a few foodie bits, as treats (dinner will be simple (Waitrose) roast chicken breast, with a few extra "trimmings")
Quite against the grain of probably every other household in the country, December is usually one of our cheapest spends months (usually because we get organised early)! How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

No, you're not the only household that does that!My partner and I are having a quiet crimbo on our own this year, and we're going to keep it simple. My partner is a veggie, but she bought me one of those frozen roasts-within-a-roast things from Lidl! We both do enjoy cooking from scratch, but my Lidl roast and a few beers will do for me this year! Less time in the kitchen = more time relaxing with a beer and chocolate infront of the TV!

Now that I am aggressively saving for retirement this will be our most minimalist Christmas ever. Even more so because we are in the process of moving house. Fed up of all the clutter as it is.
Helped by fact my kids all want money as their main present. Will top up with chocolate and Undies etc.
Just looking forward to being off work and going for long walks and watching TV.
Just had my perfect start to my weekend. I did my beach Park Run and had a coffee with all the regulars. The best things in life don't have to cost much.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Feeling blurgh this week. First cold of the season. My ears hurt, so I've been lying my head on a hot water bottle.
Did get out for a short walk in the sunshine earlier, but no running or swimming this week.
That'll teach me to go mixing with the N&N's .... Little petri dishes of germs!!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Athletes like yourself do get more colds than normal people.
Oh, I don't know about that. The only time I seem to get them is when I come out of my bubble and go mix with the great unwashed!!!;);)
I think I'm allergic to children!!!
In other news our Money Tree appears to be in rude health!!!:jHow's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
