I can't get excited about eating out regularly.  It doesn't float my boat.

Thing is, if I have a disappointing meal, I feel the money was a waste, and I would rather be disappointed at home for £6, than disappointed out for £60.

This is just how i feel, the number of times we get served average or poor food has stopped me enjoying going out anymore, and then throw in the small children not controlled by parents late at night  :s

I just caught up on this thread.  I love eating out.  I especially love a good walk followed by lunch in a decent café.  I used to spend money on gadgets and junk that would be thrown away in a few years, so I see eating out as a better use of my funds as getting out and about and seeing friends and family is good for my mental health and general wellbeing.

So eating out comes from my entertainment budget, like going to the cinema etc.  I would eat out every day if I could!

It can be an issue though, as my new lady friend doesn't have as much disposable income (earns more than me, but pays a high rent) so we do sometimes disagree about where to go.  I offer to pay, but she wants to pay her way, but that would mean we don't eat out as much, hence the possibility for disagreement.  If anyone has any ideas about how to resolve that I would be happy to hear any suggestions.  We have only just started dating though, so her moving in with me is not on the cards just yet.
Think first of your goal, then make it happen!

She cooks you a nice meal, and in return you take her out for dinner?
Or find good value places she can afford - as above some people talk about £50+ per head for eating out but it's easy to find good places well under £20 per head, even in expensive parts of the country.
Eating at lunchtime is usually cheaper - pubs and restaurants often have lunchtime (or "early bird") menus where you can sometimes get a couple of courses for £10-15 or less, or 2 meals for the price of 1 deals, I've seen these all over the country, can sometimes get 2 main meals for under £10 !!  Or a lot of pubs do Sunday carveries where you can get a big roast dinner for around £10 each.

When I stayed in pubs ( with rooms ) for work, there were often  many people eating when I arrived, and quieter when I had my own dinner later.
The reason was that it was cheaper before 7pm ( or thereabouts ) so maybe find somewhere like that.

I’ve been with my partner ages, but we don’t live together. He earns 6 x my gross salary so the way we do it is I pay every 6 times we go out. We do it out at some pretty expensive places, but this enables us to go out and me not feel he is paying for everything. It wouldn’t work for everyone, but it works for us.

I have been married 42 years, I cant remember my wife ever paying a bill of any sort, I reason she will get it all when I die, and possibly sooner if I start being an a*se.

Play card roulette.  Fan out both your and her credit card at the waiter and ask him to select one to charge on his card machine.
