Can only add 3600 pa up to age 75. Still worth dh doing so even if he will pay income tax on 75% on the way out.
Ok, so maybe not "forever"!!! 😉

Yes, we've now realised that it's still worth DH doing same, so will be making a one off payment later this month.

I'll carry on with doing it by DD and we'll play DHs by ear on an annual basis.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

New glasses bought for us both today!!!

    £646

Including the eye-tests @ £25 each, so pretty much the same cost as last time.     (I used to claim the cost of the test back from work)

It's been a pretty heavy spending couple of months.  What with the boiler, a week's holiday and now glasses.    About £4,350 in 3 months.

November to March are our quiet months.   Not many people can say December is one of their lowest spend months!!

Isn't that expensive/ above the minimum level of quality for glasses?

We've talked about this extensively up thread.  So I won't rehash it again, just to say...

Elite Varifocals, Reactions, thinner lenses, etc...it all adds up.

Also: remember I have personally instructed Sea_Shell to up her game on the spending, & stop making most of us look recklessly extravagant.
Frankly I think they need 2 x spare specs to match 🤓🥸
:D I would agree with that.

  • i am so enjoying and benefitting from this thread.  still planning on going within 24 months at latest, still not 100% on our number, i set a figure then when i get there I set a new one, just in case.   i think spending is going to be an issue.   don’t feel quite ready to go yet, but it’s comforting to know we can if we want....i think 🙈

    From the other thread ...

Yes, I've had a go at indoor skydiving and loved it!   I wasn't very good...kept spinning round, so the instructor had to keep hold.

Their demonstration at the end was amazing, such control.

Not sure about the real thing though.  😲

A Flying lesson (staying on board the plane) IS on my bucket list, and I was just about to book before CV!!

    Must rearrange.
