It is a good thing that you will never be in a position of either making or enforcing the law, apart from behind a keyboard. I have been driving for 20 years, I have never been involved in an accident and rarely a day has gone by where I have not been behind the wheel of a car. I have undertaken numerous advanced driving courses and work for some very high profile companies who strenuously monitor my driving through telematics, yet you seem to think I need to be taken off the road. #GiveMeABreak

And probably failed them all due to your crap observation.

I wonder what they will think when you disclose you have six points for a single offence of speeding?

Have you thought of any "legal loopholes" to exploit yet?

I drive for a living and have to make split second decisions several times a day.

I drive partly for the job but mainly for my leisure , I'd say everybody body has to make split second decisions both for driving and their jobs.

With hindsight, I could do many things differently on a daily basis but it doesn't help to discuss what could have been done or what would have happened or who got to the end of the road first.

Well the lorry got there 1st and didn't get told off or notice of intended prosecution, I'm sure the lorry driver does so for a living too and also has to make split second decisions, ignoring hindsight is what may well help you in the future.

I drive well within the capabilities of myself, my car and the road conditions. If I see a gap, I will go for it.

In your opinion but not in the eyes of the law which dictates also to drive within the rules of the road, see a gap and go for it?
We are talking public road and not race track?

I would be happy to pay a fine but to get 4-6 points on my licence will potentially affect my job. A speed awareness course would be more beneficial, as the points will not change the way I drive, which is fast. I will seek every potential legal loophole to try to wriggle out of this one.

Perhaps overall the points and the fine will change the way you drive! (and attitude) If you feel it may affect your job then that is something you should consider too, I have a 155mph car it doesn't mean I have to drive it to it's limits or get ahead of everyone or everything in front of me, perhaps sticking that AMG or similar badge on your car may actually slow you down as then you may feel less need to prove yourself to other road users.

What do you have in mind? You were given a verbal Notice of Intended Prosecution at the roadside, so no wriggle room there. That leaves you with challenging the measurement of the speed alleged to such a degree that it cannot be relied upon to prove you exceeded 30mph. (The charge is exceeding the speed limit, not driving at 50mph).

If the margins as you quoted previously, and I have confidence that you know what you are talking about, are a 3 point penalty and £100 fine for 49mph vs a 6 point penalty and substantially higher fine for 50mph, I must see what options are available to me before bending over with a tub of vaseline.

Was I given a verbal NIP? That is questionable.
Is the radar calibrated accurately with no margin of error to clock me at 50mph? Possibly.

Could a six point penalty compromise my job? Quite certainly yes.
Will an appearance in court, admitting the charge but using my character and job to potentially help lessen the impact? Its certainly worth it over saving 33%

Why stick it on, when Mercedes kindly put it on for me when I collected the car? Its even engraved on the alloy wheels :rotfl:

Crack on an find yourself an expert to prove the laser wasn't accurate, we've not used radars for years. I doubt it was 20mph out and good luck in convincing the court you didn't have a NIP. Not really a good defence to say the police are lying if you've no evidence.

The court will believe the policeman over you. He has nothing to gain by lying whereas you have a vested interest in saying he didn't provide a verbal NIP

They can produce calibration certificates in court. A not guilty plea just to go on a fishing trip is a very risky strategy for you.

Then drive more sedately so that everybody can see your pride n joy, not drive like a bat out of hell, few if any see that as cool.
Folk don't need to see a Bugatti Veyron doing 252\MPH or 0-60 in 3 seconds, they like to admire the artwork parked up.
