The real irony is... had you just waited a little longer you wouldn't be in this situation now, the lorry had still got to the end of the road before you, the extra time to wait is shorter than the time you are spending to resolve this (whether guilty or not)
I'm not preaching as I probably exceed some speed limit across most if not all journeys made .
It is just unfortunate that this time you got caught, I'm sure there were speed trap camera signs along that section of road?

I drive for a living and have to make split second decisions several times a day. With hindsight, I could do many things differently on a daily basis but it doesn't help to discuss what could have been done or what would have happened or who got to the end of the road first. I drive well within the capabilities of myself, my car and the road conditions. If I see a gap, I will go for it.

I would be happy to pay a fine but to get 4-6 points on my licence will potentially affect my job. A speed awareness course would be more beneficial, as the points will not change the way I drive, which is fast. I will seek every potential legal loophole to try to wriggle out of this one.

With that attitude, it’s difficult to see how a course would be beneficial.

It would be more beneficial than the points in that I might actually learn something rather than having to invest in technological solutions to give me more of a heads up of these sneaky pigs hiding at the bottom of hills on dual carriageways to generate funds, under the pretense of speed awareness.

I have been stopped twice previously and was given a verbal warning by the police on both occasions at speeds significantly higher than those we are discussing here. Those verbal warnings had more of an impact on me, changed the way I drive quite substantially and gave me confidence that the police were there to try to make a difference and use their discretion to deal with situations and circumstances. I drive at a speed I am comfortable with, not some little round circle on a lampost which determines what that should be.

If you are comfortable with driving at any speed you fancy then I can't see why you feel uncomfortable for being caught and punished.
Sounds like you probably failed the attitude test on this occasion as well judging by your responses.
So the wagon was "plodding along" at 30-35 in a 30 and you decided to overtake.
Idiots like you need taken off the road ASAP - you will never learn as demonstrated by your attitude to the law and not obeying it on numerous occasions.

Obviously not that much of an impact if you are still driving at speeds in excess of 66% above the posted limit.

What do you have in mind? You were given a verbal Notice of Intended Prosecution at the roadside, so no wriggle room there. That leaves you with challenging the measurement of the speed alleged to such a degree that it cannot be relied upon to prove you exceeded 30mph. (The charge is exceeding the speed limit, not driving at 50mph).
I drive well within the capabilities of myself, my car and the road conditions.
Very possibly. But the big unknown is the capabilities of other road users (not all driving motor vehicles, particularly in 30mph areas).
It would be more beneficial than the points in that I might actually learn something

But what would you learn that you don't already know? You know how speed limits are conveyed to drivers; you knew the prevailing speed limit. Yet you exceeded it by a tidy margin for very little, if any, advantage. This is not (in my view) a forum to discuss the validity of speed limits (either generally or specifically) but when you post remarks like yours you must expect some reaction. I try to help people on here with their motoring law problems but sometimes I wonder why posters bother if all they want is an argument about how justifiable their offending is.
If I see a gap, I will go for it.

It may be advisable to adopt a different strategy, at least for the next three years. If you are convicted of another offence along the lines of this one in that time the only gaps you will be seeing are those between the buses you will be waiting for. :(

Why do you have to invest in "technological solutions"?
Every vehicle sold in the UK already comes with technology fitted which if used correctly and in conjunction with the law, already means that you can avoid the need to pay the revenue generators.

Why? There's no need for them.

But you do realise they're only catching criminals?

It is a good thing that you will never be in a position of either making or enforcing the law, apart from behind a keyboard. I have been driving for 20 years, I have never been involved in an accident and rarely a day has gone by where I have not been behind the wheel of a car. I have undertaken numerous advanced driving courses and work for some very high profile companies who strenuously monitor my driving through telematics, yet you seem to think I need to be taken off the road. #GiveMeABreak
