I assume you're running Windows 10 and I might ultimately have to buy a new laptop that runs Windows 10 just to maintain my music libraryforgotmyname wrote: »I don't normally use Windows Media Player but just tested it and it certainly shows all the data here.
Cycled through the data in the top left corner. Singer/Band... Album Name... Track info... Genre etc etc...If I ruled the world.......0 -
I didn't bother going into detail but when I upgraded to Windows 10 on my cronky old laptop other things stopped working including total Access to the internetso looks like I might have to buy a brand new up-to-date laptop with Windows 10 and a working Windows media playerEveryWhere wrote: »Didn't you write that you had already installed Windows 10? Tried MM, no go, the internet database just ends in a dead link whenever I've tried to update any CD. Closer look shows turret excuse themselves because try no longer her days from Amazon
Tried Sony music centre, looked perfect, any attempt to to access online data and the whole program crashes
Now thinking that I am the only person in the world with a CD collection and need for metadataSony Music Centre?
Media Monkey?If I ruled the world.......0 -
If you're trying to get metadata for a new-release, or specialised-taste CD, you may be finding that there's no data on the database(s) because nobody else has ripped it.
Someone, somewhere, has to "take the hit" and manually type in the data the first time so that others can download it later.
Chris, could you describe in more than a single line what process you're going through, step-by-step.
I don't see why you need to download a new OS to "maintain" your current library, which I presume is already tagged ....
You should not need Windows 10 to do this. I'm getting tagged CDs without any problem on Win XP...0 -

What is the brand name and model number of your laptop? You likely just need to install the correct Drivers. Better to run a clean install, as opposed to an upgrade over the top.
I haven't found even a single laptop than cannot run Windows 10 and I have some from the XP era.0 -
Tried music brainz and I don't even recognise my cd collection. Just a huge list of 8000 MP3s so no good at all for my needs. Maybe ok for individual mp3sIf I ruled the world.......0

MP3 tag has no album art so again not suitable for managing albumsIf I ruled the world.......0

Music monkey just crashes every time you attempt to edit tagsIf I ruled the world.......0

Itunes has nice layout but no way to update meta tags, maybe works fine with brand new tagless ripsIf I ruled the world.......0
